Have you ever paid for something with paypal?

I sent some money to paypal@ea.com for five soul stones, then I contacted them via their customer support page. I remembered buying game time codes this way because uogamecodes.com was buggy for me. I know this address is valid. I haven't heard back from them yet, though.

I'll keep y'all updated.

Did you just send them some money or did you purchase the soulstones from a website? If so, which one?

Re: Have you ever paid for something with paypal?

I was trying to buy them from UOgamecodes.com. But when I hit the "paybycash" tab, Legacy tokens weren't listed in the options. So I gave up and decided to send the money directly to EA. In the past I just sent them an order along with basic info and they recieved it, cleared the transaction, then sent me an email with my game time code in it.

But that was a couple years ago. So thusly I also contacted EA's customer support thingie by filling out the form. In a few mins, I'll call the number listed in their details: 1-866-543-5435.

Re: Have you ever paid for something with paypal?

Go back to PayPal right away... for some reason EA and PayPal have a dispute, PayPal say that EA will not comply with the required terms of service, and you end up with what you are seeing now, and I saw a couple of years back - the money seems to go, but nothing happens. PayPal can sort it out and refund it, but as far as I know there is no way to pay EA through PayPal any more.

Which, incidentally, is why although PayByCash accept PayPal for lots of other companies, they won't take it or show it as an option for EA related payments, which is why it is not an option on the list from uogamecodes/PayByCash.

Have a read of This this archived thread on Stratics, I was less than impressed with EA at the time - and to be honest, not much happier with them now, as far as this issue goes...

"Currently, I've been trying to find out why there seems to be a problem with using PayPal to pay PayByCash, which according to EA is fine and certainly used to work as I used it many times to get gametime codes and in-game item offers. Suddenly, in April, it started getting rejected, and querying PayByCash about why, I was told :

"We're sorry, but at present we are unable to accept PayPal payments for this service. This restriction has been imposed by PayPal. Whether we accept PayPal in the future for this service will be dependent upon whether the content provider you're trying to pay for wishes to accommodate PayPal's evolving policies regarding what constitutes acceptable use of a PayPal account to sell goods or services"

I went back to both PayPal and EA to ask what was happening, PayPal said there was an issue they were discussing with EA but they hoped it could be resolved quickly. EA told me to use the Gamecodes site, choose PayByCash, and select PayPal from the options.... which was precisely what I had been doing, and indeed HAD to have been doing, for the things I was describing to them to happen...... so I wrote back to EA, and never received a reply.

Early June, I went back to PayByCash to ask what was happening, and was told:

" We are not going to be accepting PayPal for EA games from this point. Another customer had mentioned they had set up a payment through their own site, so you might want to check there. If you have any other questions, please let us know."

PayPal confirmed this, I contacted EA - and no reply.... so contacted them again, quoting the reference given on the automated acknowledgement on the first question, and - no reply.....

Tonight, I tried UOGamecodes again, and this time PayPal is no longer even an option on the list of payment methods that can be used for gametime - so clearly PayByCash have been telling me the truth. Sadly, EA have said nothing to their customers about this. I can only conclude that it was just too much effort for them to bother.
"

This has interesting implications for the "microtransaction" approach.

From what I have experienced, you have to get the ball rolling.
