Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

Just got the last of the in-laws out the door from our feast *kicks*
We all pitch in and cook a big turkey dinner here (I live in Maine, USA).Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, peas, carrots, yams...and other stuff. Then 6 different kinds of pie, ice cream and assorted other dessert goodies. *loosens belt*

Happy Thanksgiving!

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

As you get older, Traditions change. Starting a few years ago, Turky day moved from my folks house to my house. And I love it. I'm a pretty good cook so I make the meal and the ladies clean-up. Which works out good since it's also a good American football day.
Also, I always listen to Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant". A local radio station in NYC had started a tradition about 30 odd years ago, of playing that each Thanksgiving @ noon. it's an 18 odd minute song.

On the menu today

Turkey
Spiral ham
Lasagna
Potatoes (mashed), sweet potatoes, corn, broccoli w/cheese, stuffing, cranberry sauce.
3 homemade pies (aplle, pumpkin & coconut custard) and also some of my wife's home made candy.
I'd say we have about 18 for dinner today.
Dang, I'm full already.

psst, it's actual more fun on Friday with the leftovers and more FOOTBALL!

Best wishes for a joyous day with those you care about.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

We used to have all of our holidays at my grandparents. They moved into a Senior Apt complex and dinners have been at my Aunts. I hate to say it, but she has nothing on my grans cooking! Usually all my aunts and uncles & cousins on my moms side would meet at my grans. We'd have Turkey, Ham, Roasted Potatos - YUMMMMM, watergate, stuffing, stringbeans w/garlic,Cranberry, Ravoli's/Spaghetti, Lots of wine & bread and desserts and more I forgot to mention.

This year it was just my Aunt Cindy & her family & two sisters and mom. grandparents were in Texas and my Uncle was hunting it just didn't feel right

The good news though, my Aunt said that next year we're going to take a family trip to Las Vegas! Yay!
