I am thinking it will be leaning on the bad side. The open beta is coming too early. EA is going to pressure for a release. The 2D client currently wins in every category except graphics. But some of the Kingdom Reborn graphics are worse then 2D! It is a huge mess.
keep hope alive JC

Cool Re: This is going to go one of two ways

Well it was my understanding that even a windows 98 could run KR, when i have XP and cant run it on either of my computers, now i find this very upsetting. I try every day sent email and nothing. At the moment i just like the way it is.

I have XP home... I can run it just fine. What about the rest of your computer? Up to specs?

I too hope they iron out the bugs in this thing before they do anything else. I don't want them to release a buggy SA on top of a buggy KR.

I think what the developers need right now during this time of pressure from both the fan base and EA is our support. So, I definitely say good job to everyone in EAMythic who's worked hard on this project, and we look forward to the completion of a stable, solid project, and if not, well, we understand, just don't keep us hanging with the bugs too long. =P

Best,
Tryken.

Uo for sure doesn't have another 10 years ahead of it. KR client given it another 5 years at least but no way will it still be here in 10 years time. KR I’m afraid will not bring in the new generation of MMO players in the numbers needed to expanded UO and keep it profitable.

Re: This is going to go one of two ways

I was just logged in a few minutes ago on KR.... logged out.. went on 2D..... I may be alone in this, but to my eyes, 2D is about 90% better looking than KR. I might get used to some of the features of KR and think the hotbar at the bottom has a lot of promise, but for me, well, ..... KR has a long way to go before it satisfies me as much as the 2D does.

Oh, it has potential, whether it is allowed to reach that potential or just gets foisted off unfinished and unpolished is another thing. I about cry every time I see the differences in the look and therefore the 'feel' that I get in 2D

Re: This is going to go one of two ways

I for one am glad they're keeping the 2D client for a while after this debacle is released. No offense intended to those that like the client, but man... even for an open beta, this is pretty bad.

there are quite a number of players with systems that are above min specs that are not able to play it.....and thus far nothing has been said on the boards about why or what ever...

Nothing is being said because they are working on so much stuff. When they have all the known crash bugs and performance issues fixed, then they will ask people what your system specs are. A lot of the stuff we are seeing right now should have been fixed before beta. Kingdom Reborn isn't beta ready at all but they decided to do it anyway.

Yea that's my thoughts to..

When I look at Wow's early alpha screenshots (2002?/2003) and compare them to the current UOKR interface....it's abit odd how Wow's interface has that much more clarity and detail, compared to UOKR

Thats another thing that makes me feel very uneasy about the future of UO, poor management of releases. They just do not seem very orginized.
