Well I am furious as you might surmise. Last night I died 14 times fighting 2 miasma (in a row), now I wont even rant about that because that was my own stubborn self trying to see if the 1.75 mil I spent on a blackthorns arachnid slayer was worth is. It WASNT my soul seeker does better, UGH. I think miasma was on steroids but I am now living and let live (for the weekend).


So today I decided I would give my had at taming a swamp dragon (I had one once, it was bonded, but I was fighting Yamandon and it died and disapeared. I was angry but it was no big loss, and I went back to ethys).

So I took my tamer out and died trying to tame a swamp dragon, I realized I should have some pet backup, so I brought my ever lovely (The LastUnicorn) out who is nearly trained up, and I got ganked by 2 boglings, I fed my pet, I died, went for res, can back my pet was gone, gone gone, with a corpse on the ground. I logged in and out. I went to stables nothing. And I am FURIOUS.

Thank you for reading, now 2 questions, I am not an expert with pets, did I do something wrong? She was happy, I just fed her, saw the baddies coming and died? Is there anything else I could have done?

And more to the point can a better tamer than I, tame a swamp dragon for my warrior? (sonoma)

*sighs* and somehow I just lost my +27 animal taming ring and bracelet.

Now I am just sad! I dont know what I did. I recovered my corpse....

I can scrounge up something else, but I am just confused now.....-(

Was your unicorn bonded? I will assume it was. I am no expert myself but I did have something similar happen a few months ago with my beetle bug. I died and rezzed and bug was no where, I logged in and out and still no bug! I ran around and called him, recalled everything I could think of. I was sick over it and I didn't log into UO for a few days. When I did, there he was in my house.

Hopefully this will happen to you. Regardless I am sorry about your frustration *big hugs*

1) Is your insurance auto-renew on? (for some silly reason, it is off by default)

2) Was the unicorn bonded? (it looks like you know how to, so forgive the question)

3) As Snuggs suggested (waves), log in and out, multiple times.

4) What shard are you on? Sounds like you need some resists on your armor too.

Thanks guys. Yeah definitely a bonded pet. I think I know what happened *sighs* I must have lost/ misplaced the jewelry before. But I dont understand how I could feed a pet, raise it happiness and die, Then in the 30 seconds or so that it took it to die, it went wild, then died? I didnt issue a single command after I died so no way to lower its loyalty. You cant feed a wild pet right? I didnt order it after I fed it, so no way for it to go wild. Tis a mystery to me.

I definitely have autorenew on. I have logged out several times.

I am on Sonoma. I guess I will have to learn how to winnow through a bunch of unicorns :-(

if you were not wearing your taming jewelry and could not control your pet perhaps that is why it did not come to you..find some taming jewelry then try the logging in and out deal and check the stable again

That's what I was thinking.

Always have your pets on Pet Summoning Crystals, and keep them in your bank.

Regularly check that all that you have on you is insured, even the Pet Summoning Crystals if you by chance are carrying them.

Feed your pets regularly, or they go wild on you again, even if you have had them awhile.

If you are not GM, you better have your lore and taming jewelry on to control pets like unicorns, white wyrms, and fire steeds, or they will head down range.

Lastly, don't go chansing after their ghosts in danger areas after you rez yourself. Recall out and if they don't show up beside you, that is when you call them with the Pet Summoning Crystal.

In the meantime, look at this as a learning experience to write about. A special memory perhaps.

Thanks penny, but none of that was applicable. I JUST fed my unicorn before I died. When I came back the ghost was gone. After I logged out and back it several times, and it still wasnt there, I headed for the stables.

If the pet was wild I could not have fed it. Ergo it was not wild at the time of my death. It must have gone wild in the short time between my death and its death?



PS no one is on sonoma with a tamer?
