Just interested to see how many of you this has happened too and what advice and actions did you take.

I received last night a email from uo/ea in the subject line "Help forgot password" low in behold I opened it up and nearly freaked. It was my user name and password. I DID NOT request this and I've never contacted UO for my password ever. I then went and immediately changed my password after getting that email. I then icq'd a few friends and they also said this has happened to them too. I emailed uo and called them today. I haven't heard back from my email but when I called I was told by a rep this is not their problem I'm to contact my local police station. I think it is unfortunate that someone has my user id and I have never given it out. Anyone can request a password if you know the user id, I tested it last night. I think we should be able to change our user id when this happens and just not our password. My concern is, am I being hacked? is uo being hacked or ea?? This account is 9 yrs old and I sure don't want someone going in and changing my info and getting my account since they made it very clear "it's not their problem". Is there any further actions I should take? I'm very concerned with this issue. please help me guys Thank you !!

Did abit of digging earlier, it's basically someone or a bot, randomly entering usernames or emails into the uo account management program, which then sends out an email confirmation of your username/password

This happened to me just now also and it freaked me out. I did not request my password either. I changed my password but I'm still worried about it. I hope this doesn't happen again! My username isn't something that could be easily guessed... soo I don't know what's up!

I hope you didn't use any links from that email . I would also recommend you make sure your virus/spy ware software is up to date. Then run a scan on entire system. And as last ditch, I am really worried. Call customer service and have them lock your account for x number of days until you can be sure you haven't been hacked. If you have been hacked do call the police. Hopefully they will have someone knowledgeable on internet laws.

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday.

Well.. I did click on a link from that email. The email was from customerservice@ea.com so I assumed it'd be safe. The link I clicked was https://www.ultima-registration.com/. Then I changed my password, twice.

I will run a virus scan anyway just to be safe because I don't know what is going on. I hope this issue is resolved soon.

There was a phishing scam a while back where people were phishing for people's yahoo email addresses and passwords, and then using that in combination with UO usernames to steal people's accounts. I'm sure this is happening with many other phishing scams, not just the big yahoo one that went on a few months back. (It happened to me). So yes, somebody does have your username, and I would highly recommend changing your password. However, if you got the email and nobody has your email login info, then the "bad people" likely did NOT get your UO password.

I wish I could find the news bulletin they posted about it. It was a couple months back. I can't find it on UO.com or the EA support site.

I never trust hyperlinks in emails. Always type the URL to the UO registration site yourself in your browser. Phishing scams are based on making fake web sites that look like the real thing, and leading people there with fake hyperlinks that look real.

I usually do that too, I guess this just threw me off guard and I wanted to resolve it quickly. I just ran a virus/spyware and it found nothing. I went to uo.com and logged in thru there to change my password again! Oy... this is frustrating!
