Damn... my first gm skill took ages, when i first started playing i was a tamer/meler/mage/bard/smith/pally all on one char... then i made a charactor on euorpa and found a guild and they set me up with a temp... and gmed focus first due to running around alot..

Tactics, then Parry, then Swords.. Poor girl had to work hard to keep her sister supplied with mage supplies LOL!

Mining...back when I thought it would be important to have a blacksmith to make the good stuff that cost too much to buy. Now I wised up and just buy what I need and stop grinding to make half fast decent items.

"Back in my day we didn't have LRC or insurance. We just died and lost everything... and we liked it!" But back then, gold meant something too. And I wasn't about to waste precious regs on macroing out skill points. If I was casting, i needed to be making gold to pay back the regs on that casting. I never did make it to GM Mage. I recall there used to be a title for Master. That happend someplace in the 90s if'n you had other Magery skills in the same area too. I recall the the day I got the Master title. It must have been nearly 5 months of adventure skill gaining with that character. Never broke more than 20k in the bank at any time. But if a day ended with a few +0.1s in magery I considered it a good day. I ICQed all my friends and guildy (cause we didn't have guild chat back then) and said "When last we met I was but the learner, now I am the Master!" And I got alot of applause.

With LRC and messed up economy, I made a mage a month or so ago and GMed magery in a few days. Was the old way more fun, Yes. Do I wanna go back to the old way, not sure.

I think my first was Swordsmanship. I did it wacking Paladin's in Trinsic. Good times hehe

I think I gm'ed pathfinding before anything.

Actually it was mining. Yes, I know... mining doesn't kill anything. I learned better later.

ahh so it is the memories from mining and the PK's that made you into the killer that you are .

My first and only GM is focus, but I really haven't tried to GM anything else.
I mean if I'm a newb I must act as a newb, right?

mine was fishing... fishing up sea serps and running into water eles were heart thumping moments back then lol... those were the days...

When i gmed swords at bone wall i remember when Lich lords were near impossible...
I finally got my silver vanq katana and then i started giving em hell... i miss the good ole days...

All joking aside though my first GM was Lockpicking, Took forever Ugh I don't miss an ounce of working it either, now that I have 2 accounts with GM lockpicker that is.

I know for a fact that 99% of you have all lied in this thread, its gotta be Med or Focus for everyone. Yes back when we were all new players we'd run around with med and focus turned up and they'd be GM'd in like 3 days :grin: I GM'd Med at balckrock in 90 mins, intentionally I mite add.

No, focus did not exist back then, and my recollection is that meditation didn't, or if it did, it was very, very, very hard to GM (my first mage, for instance, GM'ed medidation long after finally GM'ing magery).
