After a long and enlightening and for the most part disappointing absence from UO I'm back Why I keep coming back who knows, but I do (I'm sure many of you feel the same after trying every online and off game to come out.) My questions are a friend told me there are fire beetles in the game which my miner can ride and use as a portable forge.

1. Is this true?
2. Is this better than a giant beetle with the storage space on him?
3. How hard are they to get ( to tame or to buy)?
4. Can they fight, as my miner is totally defenseless?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can see you guys on here are pure game geniuses when it comes to knowledge!

2. Depends on the situation. It doesn't hurt to have one of each
3. Not very hard to get. About 10k to purchase. *
4. With training they can fight real well. The older ones are bugged and do minimal damaged. Bug was fixed, but have to reacquire bugs if you have one of the older ones.

1) Yes they are part of the Samaria Empire edition.

2) Fire beetles aren't able to carry anything more then a rider. However, this is not a bad thing. You can use the Fire Beetles as walking forges to smelt your ore as you mine.

3) Fire beetles are in the back of a cave on Tukuno Isle. A solo tamer (if good) can get one. On Pacific they are selling for 40K-60K.

4) Yes a trained Fire Beetle can fight in your defense.
