Fast way to train skills?

Just returning to UO on a new account and was wondering is there a fast way to train skills like magery up anymore like you used to be able to 8x8 on a boat

also if possible would anyone on the GL server be able to get me some 110 powerscrolls at a decent price to get me back on my feet

Re: Fast way to train skills?

Hi Trammie......Although they have deep six'd the old 8x8 method, this forum has answers and tactics on how to raise just about every skill in a methodical and logical fashion. This means most skills raise pretty fast using the right methodology. Lots of people in this forum smarter than I am so i am sure a better answer is on the way..
That's the beauty of this place. There is always someone who knows the answer. Good luck. If GL bores you come check out Catskills.

Re: Fast way to train skills?

the last time i tried UO, 8x8ing on the boat was still the way to go.

... that was 3 years ago though, so nevermind.

Here is a link to many FAQ http://www.uoforums.com/uo-faqs-f1301/

Not sure which skills you want to raise. If you give us an idea, we might have a better place for you to look

Re: Fast way to train skills?

welcome back Trammie...as Vepl said let us know some specifics and we'll help anyway we can...as for the magery I would recommend going to new haven...buy up to 40 magery skill...take the magery quest which asks you to
raise your skill to 50..once you accept the quest go into old haven and you will get increased skill gains up to 50 then find you a lrc suit if possible and macro the heck out of magery...you can use a -29 spell channeling mage weapon to lower your skill once it gets higher so you can still gain off lower level spells

Re: Fast way to train skills?

To raise med fastest, also raise focus at first.

While you assemble an LRC training suit, try to get MR on it over LMC.

Reasoning: Passive med skill gains are skill checked every time mana increases by one. (the same with focus too). Using focus and MR to increase your med gains at a lower level of med skill will net you MUCH faster med gains.

While casting spells that normally cause damage, target your spell book (it must be in your pack). This works for all damaging spells except mindblast (which checks targets intel).

Re: Fast way to train skills?

You can assemble a 100% LRC suit fairly cheaply, however it might not have stellar resists. To get a 100% LRC suit with good resists is a bit more expensive, and adding in LMC and MR to that can get very expensive.
