After experiencing KR first hand and hearing that SA will only be available if you use KR, I feel that it will be a disaster for our beloved game.

EA/Mythic had better do some serious back pedaling and code the 2D client to be able to use the new content or this game will die.

I am really not looking forward to UO going away. I have put many years into this game and I do not appreciate them forcing us to use a new client. We are used to OUR client. It is what made UO, well, UO.

That said, I just, last night, re-upped for 6 more months. I hope I am not wasting my money.

SA had better be available for 2d.

I think its just more about getting used to the new client. I know when they brought out 3d i thought it was awful, but i also know a lot that went and played 3d also said how much they loved it compared to 2d.

Currently i am still using 2d myself, as KR seems a little too bugger and isnt as fast for pvp,pvm as 2d.

Fingers crossed they will iron out all the bugs and UO will be here for some years to come. I think we just have to look on the brightside

I still do not want them to kill 2D though. I am sorry, if they do I will be gone to better 3D games.

The 2D client is why I have stayed for so long.

I want to add, I am not against the KR client, but I really do not like the total ignore they have done to the 2D client.

I will be happy with both clients as long as we all have access to the same content.

Things they need to do to KR, They keep saying how it can be modified, what they should do is take all of the 2d graphics and stick them in the new client and tune down the engine so it will run. It would not run on a P4 2.4 gig with 1 gig ram and a nivida 5200 so I spent $140 on a new video card and it runs marginally better but still lag to point where the game is unplayable. [KR Fanbois] You just need to change the setting on the game and on you computer[/KR Fanbois] Well I just dont have the GEEK SKILL to make this game work. I can play lots of new game that have higher requirement and I dont have to screw a round with GEEKY settings and drivers.
Where the game is now it should be just entering closes beta. As for SA I'll wait till they come out with SA: Blackthorn Revenge to come out.

I used the 3D and had seizures, so I have to play 2D unless they fix something.

I for one certainly will not be spending a single penny on the SA expansion until KR improves a great deal. It's pretty and all that good stuff, but I simply can't put up with how it runs. It's not about the UI or anything like that, it's just that the game runs too darn slow for my liking. It's the little things like the fact that there is a delay between when I click and when my character finally decides to start walking. Running is just flat out clunky and awkward.

I like KR, yet I find it unplayable...

I have played may online games (and still do) even games like EVE go through the same thing , early this year they had a new client, I like KR and certainly think it's better than the old client, the thing is when something like this happens as someone else mentioned, it's a case of getting used to the client, afterall it's not as if you have to pay for it.

My advice would be download it and use it, granted for the first few hours you will struggle and it takes some time to set up your desktop etc.. but reserve an evening and just practice all the stuff you normally use ingame and set it up to fit.

My rant on this :- Come on get used to it , it's an improvement and they are working to keep the game alive not to kill it, I don;t see the issue with moving forward, afterall would you prefer to be using Windows 3.11 !!! everything prgresses and the reservations against moving to another version are normally just because people don;t like change, when in fact change is good and healthy.

It would be interesting to do a poll to see how many people actually use KR.

But its a bit like the jump in technology from a square wheeled bycycle to an oval wheeled bycycyle - runs a bit better but still a bumpy ride!

And people keep missing the major point as mentioned by Brom/Perrin above - it runs so damn slowly for some of us that it is virtually unplayable and that is on reasonable spec machines.

How come I can run WoW or Guild Wars or SWG on my PC very happily yet KR runs like a dog with two legs?

Forget 2d vs KR - this is about playble vs unplayable

KR is unplayable.. its slow very slow with macros. I hate the detailed graphic in it. its all just too blurry... making a part of the world only KR.. is doing the Third Dawn mistake all over and added a piece of DEAD world to the game (Illishnar)

I personally don't mind KR and I actually do like some of the graphics, though not everything. But the fact of the matter remains that the client is almost completely unplayable on my computer. And my computer is not obsolete! I crash way too often on KR and I lag so much that even killing a mediocre monster is a dangerous venture. I cannot fathom ever being able to do guild hunts, champ spawns, or even peerlesses with the new client.

I would HAVE to quit UO if they did nothing to fix these issues when they force KR on us.

Things certainly are a mess. As usual, what they have released is bug-ridden and not a good advert for the game.

But, we really do need one client - be it 2d or KR. With the limited development resources, having two clients to support just does not make sense.
