Hi,

I heard people saying Dread Mare and Greater Dragon are the newest pets tamers could have these days...is it true? I hae no idea on this cause I was away for almost 4 months~~~ Could anyone please help in telling me where to find those creatures? Thank you~~~

Greater dragons come from any location you could and can find "normal" dragons, such as Destard, but I know there are more places than that to kill.....erm...tame the fire-breathing lizards.

Dread mares come from the Vanguard who you need to kill to get his mount. I will let someone else explain their locations and spawning patterns though. Good luck and welcome back!

Vanguard spawn in the following locations at the following ingame UO times:

They appear in this order Cove at midnight, Papua 3:00, Nu jelm 6:00, and Serpents Hold 9:00.

Take a bola with you and knock the Vanguard off his mount or kill him first tame his mount when your done..... they require 3 taming slots so you can take a regular mare with you though Vanguard tend to spawn some rather heavy reinforcements, so I would watch your back.... They can be lead away a short distance but will often return to their original spawn location after a short time.... the Dread Warhorse can be lead away and will not return to the spawn location on it's own....

Good luck. Oh suppose I should let you know as well Greater Dragons require ALL 5 control Slots!.... So no mount for you trying to tame them..... keep that in mind.

I've found that it's best to kill the vanguard and all his spawn first, leaving the dread mare alone to fend for itself. At that point, I stable my Greater Dragon or Cu Sidhe and run back to peace/tame the Dread.

Alternatively, you can just lead the Dread away from the rest of the spawn. Unlike the othe Vanguard monsters, it won't teleport and return to its spawn point.

You're going to want one with at least 600hp. I've seen as high as 623, and I haven't been looking very hard.

I have tried the Greater Dragon....It's really a difficult task to tame one!!!(without dying...especially)

I would beat it down with my Cu Sidhe first then come back and tame it. It's been fairly easy taming the G Dragon everytime I have done it this way.

Don't know why I keep angering the Dragons and failing like 10+ times (tho I am triple 120) T_T

Maybe they just hate me.......T_T

sometimes its good if someone goes with u and invis/heals u while u attempt to tame the beast

Honor is your very bestest friend when taming Greater Dragons.

Also - beating it down is a good idea: moves slower, hits for less damage.

I don't even know how you guys are dealing with Greater Dragons. My friend and I go into Destard and as soon as we see "Greater Dragon" we know we'll be dead in 10 seconds. It's like the Grim Reaper just announced his presense.
