Details About Doom Points

So I was in doom for about an hour this morning and got an arcane shield. WOW! Hmmmmmmm took me, about 5 months to get my first one, after AOS launched?

So I was just wondering a few things.

Once you get an arty does your point system start over? And if you log out in doom, is it the same as forfeiting your current points?

1) POint system resets with each artie awarded.

2) YOu never lose current points, until you get an artie.

just as a for instance I participated in clearing all the rooms last night twice and helped take down what seemed like a total of 10-12 dark fathers "sic em, red" with my cu and didnt see a single arti! However the sampiries (sp?) and the dexxers that were there seemed to be raking em in. Now keep in mind the killing was fast and furious so quick striking high damage dealers seemed to be much better equipped to kill fast and generate higher point spreads than a tamer trying to target and sic a pet on them. My two cents worth is that tamers are gonna have to be there quite a while to generate enough points compared to the other figher types. I did see a few mages throwing ev's however im not sure how effective they were!

Merc (and Merth), the damage assumption is correct. Sampires (or Vampurai), Wither'ers, and plain dex'ers do the most damage.
Been doing research on it all day after seeing some templates last night. A wither'er with 64 SDI (not the highest) can do about 100 damage to a DF. Per strike. In wraith form, they get back 20% of that in mana, so have darn near infinite casting.
The best thing about THIS template, is no worries about targetting. Just get close.

Templates that I saw were (at a guess)
120 Magery
120 Med (Core)
120 Eval
120 Necro (Core)
120 SS (Core)
120 ** (unknown)

Saw lots of variations on this. The eval is a guess too, as it has no effect on wither damage. With basically two open 120 slots, you could build a huge variety around the core template.

Sampurai build is pretty standard nowadays. Some variations on tactics, anatomy, chiv, necro levels.
120 Parry
120 Bushido
120 wep skill
68-76 chiv
30-50 necro (depending on item availability, and use of curse wep)
70-90 tactics
60.1 to 80.1 anatomy, some higher
90.1 healing (some 80.1)

Best damage output per second would be a high stamina (150+) dexxer with LJ and a 30 SSI ornate.

arcane, staff of magi, and blade of insanity in about 6 hrs

back again today.

i love bringing my archer! i do tons of dmg and don't have to worry about chasing things down. my arrows do it for me

My archer is..
120 Archery
120 Tactics
120 Anatomy
120 Healing
85 Chiv
rest in meditation.. Honestly I don't know what I am going to fill with the other points/in place of meditation
bushido is such a mana eater and not really worth it IMO since I am an archer.. Dont need to evade or anything.
Still deciding. Thinking maybe resist spells since doom monsters are full spells

Use two +15 necro jewels, with 5 base necro and go into wraith form. That is the template I used in doom for years. Then Bushido will be near free from mana leech. You get a new healing option (confidence), extra damage from lightning strike, and momentum strike.

Very interesting, I like it.

It took me about 4.5 hours to get my last arty (another blade of insanity). So I am guessing there is no real method to this madness, and I like not being able to count on one every 1.5 to 2 hours. I like the surprise!!
