Damage done to Dark Father question

My sweetie and I were thinking that a tamer/provo would be a good combo in doom. But the other night we ended up out damaging using using earth eles, evs, and that spellweaving spell of swarm of bugs deal and some spell combs when mana permitted. We were surprised since all of the spawn was getting provoed on DF and guy was using a dog.
Also out did the archer and pure spell casting mage there.
Now we are rethinking what template to change to or stick with.

Anyone have a tamer/provo for doom and how do you usually do?
Thanks

I think that would be a great combination fr doom. Stick its own monsters on the DF.

The problem would be vetting said animals, the DF does wither quite a bit so it makes it very hard to vet your pets.

A dog maybe the best bet, but I have heard a Beetle/Mare and a Dog work very well, since the beetle causes the armor thing and the dog can do much more damage. And usually with two provokers it goes much easier.

The biggest problem for a tamer is that last room before the DFs. The abysmmal horrors are tough on pets so you really need to get them separated to fight one at a time. Hiryus are great in that room because of the high hps.

I don't have a problem with Abysmals really, for tamers do the EQ and run deal.
EQ run, EQ run Hide. Med up, repeat.
Takes a bit longer but it gets the job done.
