Question Creatures And Character Avatars

Hi,
I was just wondering people's thoughts on likes/dislikes/improvements on the look of new creatures and avatars. Also, I was wondering if anyone has set up a database showing pics of creatures/items (both slotted and equipped)/housing tile sets, etc.?

I'll start off. "In my opinion".....
+ ANIMALS: I think most of KR's animals look nice, I just returned to UO and had no 3D client to compare them to.
+ OGRES: much much better than both 2D and 3D
+/- ORCS: love the new bodies, would change the heads from the warthog look to a more LOTR movie look, or just lupine instead of swine.
+/- OSTARDS: love the new look, like 3D better (3D looked actually like a cross between an ostrich and a lizard)
- TROLLS: not intimidating, even to my new character. Too small, I would like to see them look like Magics Albino Troll (something more gorilla like), or LOTR movie.

Re: Creatures And Character Avatars

The new earth elementals look quite... earthy Much more scary in current form.

Has anyone seen the new corpsers? They're so scary looking that I think I'd run away from them as a newb!

I like most of the new animals. Some scaling seems off (ie. the blue beetles and fire beetles seem way too big), but I like the looks of most of them. Except for the pincher things on the front of the blue beetle. They've got to go!

I don't like the lizard-y look of the new ostards. I preferred the ostrich look!

Great harts look weird. I can't put my finger on it but it doesn't look deer-like to me.

Re: Creatures And Character Avatars

Birds are way too small to me. Pretty much unable to target them...

Im with Kit, Ostards need a bit more bird back in them or at least give them little arms or something...

I like the Great Harts tho...they look a bit reindeer-ish but tougher.

I did laugh at the first Frost Troll I saw near my house...looked like some kind of aging hippy...

The new spiders look pretty neat. Maybe a bit cartoony, but I still like em.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love most the new creatures. Granted I've seen very little of them, but I love what I do see. Birds are yeah, too small to target.

I love every undead I've seen so far, with the exception of, I would make the ghoul's face look more human.

I like just about every animal I've seen too.

There's no more "All Names" option anymore?

I believe there is an option for names in the actions list when you make a macro.
You just have to scroll with the mouse wheel to see it.

Re: Creatures And Character Avatars

Dungeons look lush in UOKR - FAR more atmoshperic and by and large all the animals/monsters look better (check the ellies if you get a chance) - and the spell animations (with 3D particle effects) are much prettier.

The paperdoll avatar is greatly improved too, various items of clothing/armour seem to sit better, you don't get weird bits of shoulder pad popping out from under your jester's suit any more. The hairstyles seem to have gone though, every (male) character seems to have the same hairstyle atm and with the larger, more detailed faces everyone looks the same which is a bit of a shame - could do with some NWN sytle facial customisation options.

Where KR really falls down graphically though is the static stuff, either 3D or 2D. The textures are a bit "muddy", they lack clarity and look a bit out of focus, particularly ground and housing tiles... almost like they've tried to make it look like a second-rate watercolour painting.

As for things like chests, backpacks and pouches... don't get me started. They sort of leave you with the impression that they spent so much time making all the animals/monsters look pretty that they figured "sod it, a bog standard cuboid with some weak texture-mapping will do". I really hope they'll put a bit more effort into those things before it goes live.

omg be careful where you do that!!!!
I did it in a crowded area, and it brought up name gumps for everyone and everything... all of which I had to individually X out. I ended up just logging out because there was nothing else I could do.
