Re: Completely new to UO
Welcome to UO Forums and to the game itself, Aranarth! Glad to have you here with us!
UO Stratics is where I pretty much get a ton of my information but I am sure the UO Vet people can show you many sites to go read and such but then again tons of information is right here! You got an excellent community here to help you out! I know they have many times for me... but anyway here is the stratics link... http://uo.stratics.com/ Now SOME of the information there is outdated but most of it is pretty to date. If you got any questions just post here and don't hesitate that is what we are here for! We were all new once and usually have TONS of questions so fire away =D Play on any shard you want! Any shard has a great community! But I well not to pun my shard or anything but, Atlantic is VERY over populated >_< Lots of good people there though just... too many looks like a WoW (World of Warcraft) Shard! *dies!* There is still populated shards else where but I think that is the worse and then if not mistaken I read somewhere here on UO:F that Europa is the 2nd most populated... But play anywhere but there unless you like populated shards... then go fot it =D -RMS Carpathia- ![]()

Re: Completely new to UO
Welcome Aranarth! I'd suggest sticking with shards that you have a favorable connection with.
As stated, uo.stratics.com has some good (and some out-dated) info on the game. Also, to get info on more of the newer content, you can check out www.uostuff.com You said you wanted to start out simple (I'm assuming a simple fighter), I'd suggest starting out as a pre-built Paladin, and follow the initial quest. It'll set you up to learn how some things are. Mostly though, just talk to people in game, be weary, some will try to be a**es but most people generally help all characters with [young] next to their names. Never be afraid to ask for help, on here or in game. |

Re: Completely new to UO
Welcome to UO. A couple of things to keep in mind
1) Do NOT sell an Soulstones or fragments you come by. You'll need them later. 2) Look for a guild on your shard that specifically helps new players, for instance the "NEW" guild on Siege. You can inquire about it on the specific shard forum here or Stratics. (BTW, if your going to use Stratics always wear your hip-waders when going into UHall forum) 3) UO is a game of immense depth, try not to get too overwhelmed upon starting. I've been playing 9 years and still haven't been every where or done everything. 4) Ask questions and personally I think this is the best place to get good answers without a lot of BS. all IMHO Se'an Silverfoot ![]() ![]() "Careful what you wish for, You just might get it all.... And then some you don't want"

Re: Completely new to UO
I strongly urge the Paladin pre-made template as a first character. They are fairly easy to get the hang of fighting and such and at higher levels will be very fun to play and powerful.

Re: Completely new to UO
Thanks for the suggestions
![]() I downloaded the Free Trial from fileplanet but I cant find the free trial "key" to play for 14 days? ![]() I sent a question about this to EA, and posted at the stratics forums. I looked thru every game directory there was, nothing indicated a "Free Trial Key" ![]() |

Re: Completely new to UO
You should've got a free trial key when you finished downloading it, it normally pops up on the screen OR, it gets emailed to you

When I restarted UO I had to call EA to get my key.
