Re: [Community News] Press Pass -Atlanta Town Hall

The new graphics makes it look better and gives it more of a fantasy feel, like your actually in the world kinda. The hotbars etc will make it easier as Ultima was complicated for young players, well it was when i started. I think its looking really nice, like a true fantasy game, and its Free so cant complain. The stygian abyss looks good aswell, hopefully the gargoyal race will look better than them ugly elves, and the best part about it for me is......New Pets. Muahahahaha

I cant comment there as I have never played another online RP game,so I only have the current UO to base my opinion on .

For me personally though ,its much more than graphics, its things like the switch between armour, the new craftables, housing, etc

Lets hope when it does get released you will be pleasantly surprised Carl

I love the 2d client, I was upset when I heard about the decision to change it. But I still think theyre doing it all wrong.

Just noticed the "UOAssist will NOT work with UOKR " bit

Does that mean it won't work as it is without an update, or will be blocked by EA?

My guess is that the game will be fullscreen, and thus the UOA won't be accessible (nor compatible with the new client).

Re: [Community News] Press Pass -Atlanta Town Hall

Looks pretty good so far!

I'm glad they're not doing it in a full-scale 3D like a lot of games out these days...I don't think my poor computer could handle it! I am TRULY excited about new pets, housing and craftables....more pixel crack! Yay!

I just hope they do away with the new backpack, or at least make it so you can toggle between the old and new. The way it looks in the pics, is just a list of what you have, and the quantity....you wouldn't be able to see everything at a glance. And the way they describe it as having rows and columns you can put stuff in....wouldn't that limit you to how many items you can have in your pack, depending on the size? What I'm talking about is sort of like the inventory screens they have on all the old Might and Magic games, where some items take up more than one 'square' in your inventory...therefore, you can carry tons of potions, but a large item (like a chainmail tunic, for example) takes up about 1/3 of the inventory, and you can't carry as much, because the tunic takes up probably 20 squares. And if vendor backpacks were like this too, then we wouldn't be able to do backpack art the way we used to...and I've spent SOOOOO much time on my backpack art!

Re: [Community News] Press Pass -Atlanta Town Hall

its like theyre trying to contend with themes from WoW and other games on the market.
They are completely losing track of the classic feel that ultima gives, the whole reason people stick around. Do they honestly think that this is going to appeal to new gamers?

You can see so much crap that mythic scrapped from their other MMO's to use in this project its unbeleivable.

Re: [Community News] Press Pass -Atlanta Town Hall

I don't think it's turning into anything other than an upgraded UO (it does not come near to resembling WoW, Diablo, or ANYTHING other than UO) maybe some aspect (hotbars = belt in diablo) but not the graphics.

I was actually looking forward to hearing more about the anti-cheat stuff and when I read about new magic, etc. if they mean a new skill, or new spells for existing skills (i.e. cold damage based spells, more chiv spells).

Also was hoping to hear more about combat in general, they stated faster targeting systems, better PvP, etc. but didn't get much into the combat aspect of the game. A question (or series of questions) I would have asked would have been "Are there new graphics for characters/creatures taking damage?" and dependant on the answer follow up with (if yes) "Will taking damage effect movement, attack timers, healing timers, etc.?" (as in recovering after being hit, or if you were timed to swing as you took damage and your avatar shows getting hit, will you still deal damage or will you have to wait to have the attack graphic show?) (or if the answer is no) "How will damage be shown to characters/creatures? Still use the numbers floating system, or something different?"

I don't know, I would get carried away.
