![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Coming back to UO after 8 years Welcome Silent and Chumlord. Chumlord, keep us posted on what shards you have the best ping to. We might be able to set you up with a mentor on that shard. That will ease the learning curve a bit. As the rest have said, be prepared for a different game than it was in 99. 1) PvP is now isolated to a different facet of the shard. All shards except siege perilous and mugen are like this. 2) equipment is now a MUCH bigger part of the game than it was previously (some think too much). 3) There are 5 more skills than before, and significant changes have occurred to many of the others. 4) Melee skills now have special moves. Some are quite impressive. 5) There are several new land masses in the game, with alot more opportunity for housing. 6) Skill can go up to 120 now, vice 100, with the use of an item called a power scroll 7) Stats can be increased above the 225 cap through another type of power scroll 8) 8*8 is no longer in the game for skill gain. This has changed alot. There are TONS of other content changes, but these are the most significant (IMO). ![]() Useful links [UO:F Common FAQ] [UO Stratics] [UO Guide] [Official UO Play Guide] [Search UO] [FindUO.com] [UO Feedback] [More Links, gathered by the Forum] [b][size="3"]Got a Question, or a great answer? PM me with it and I will post in the FAQ. |

| Guest | Re: Coming back to UO after 8 years Thanks for all the input. My wife is a diehard WoW fan but i will try to convert her. Its a shame about the PvP being restricted. I am not much of a PvPer but i liked the rush it gave you having to avoid the PKRs early on. I remember exiting the starter dungeon one time and seeing a band coming towards me after i had just had an actual successful haul of loot. Started running away and BAM hit a wall and was killed. I am still unsure of where that wall came from. always assumed there mage had casted it because i was in the middle of the woods when it happened. |

You are correct, the wall is one of the minor spells, but to someone new, quite effective. In the non-PVP world, you wont have that problem now. The PvP world looks all blasted. Dead trees, bones scattered all about. The non-PVP world looks like the old UO world. | |
