Ok this is how it goes. Im not to sure how many have already figured this out but I figured Id share it anyway. I Recently convinced my wife to play uo with me and make her own character. So she did but she doesnt play enough to gain any decent skills and thus when we adventure together it consists of me healing her while she fights the multitude of domestic animals in haven...quite dull for me. So i thought maybe id take one of my legend chars and just give it her name and gender. So i looked into it and it was like 20 or 30 bucks. Definatly not worth that. In addition the venders in luna would have sold both tokens for a total of about 16 mil as well. while i was looking a came across some soulstone frags for about 400k each. I Bought 3. Then i got the idea.why not just create her a new char or use her current and xfer the skills so i also ended up having to buy a swords leg scroll 2.6 mil and a elder parry 90k plus i used 2 of the soulstone frags 400k each.. The total cost for a completely new char with her gender and name was 3 mil 490k.. As opposed to 30 cash or 16 mil more or less. Again most of you vets may know this but maybe it can help out some of the newer players considering the change.

oh one other note.. If you create a new char to do the change youll also get the rune for the dark knight quest in new haven.

Yeah, well... the idea works of course. Creating a new Char, transferring all and deleting the old one. But it has one definite drawback:
If you're a vet and have some extras on your chars, like say, the additional 5 stat points the gave out with AoS, then you should not consider this solution.

The +5 stats will come back, actually..... one of the newer changes, any character on an account over 6 months gets the stat cap raise, if not on creation then the next time they log in (bugs permitting, of course).

The principle still holds if you spent a +anything powerscroll though..

the biggest problem I see with this is her character has to be on an acct with established characters in order to use the transfers from the frags. This makes it difficult for someone who wants to play with their spouse and only has one acct!

What I would do is just buy an advanced char and let her play that one!

Right I am doing it with 2 accounts with built characters. The advanced char would work as well too however in her case she doesnt want to really build up a char at all. The main purpose here is just for newer players younger vets maybe that wanna try a name and gender change but arent really willing to invest the cash for it.

you will also have to go through the agonizing matter of building up your stats again... With skills already finished on this new character, you wont get as many stat gains as you would on a new character gaining skills.... i've done this before, on a red char to a blue char that changed templates.. it took weeks for me to gain all my stats back up to where they were before, then on top of that, you have to go out and buy another 25 stat scroll....

I just would find it easier to stick with the name and adapt from there...

You can sort of get around that, Bo - takes a little longer, but what you do is stat-build on the new character before letting them anywhere near the soulstone. Say you're working strength, pick a few skills that have Str as their primary, work on them in sequence up until one hits ten or so, then move to another skill. You need to keep the total skills you have low, since your gain rate is higher if your overall skill total is low.... Then once you have roughly the stats you require, use the stone, and flush out the bunch of low level skills when you accept the soulstoned skills.

Not perfect, but it saves quite a bit of time if you are trying to 'dupe' a character.

yes, that is doable, but, in my field, where I do pvp only, I dont have time to waste on a character training up like this. I need all 6 of my guys to be ready at all times, to fight in whatever situation they are called upon to die for!!!!!!!!(and I do die alot, I mean ALOT) so I keep skills laying around, and whenever a template needs to be changed, it can be done quickly...

I tried to not make any character names that I didnt want later, except the one character that I later changed to be named after my favorate Japanese, big-balled squirrel/fox, the Tanuki. Who doesnt want to be killed by a big-balled fox!!! It's golden!
