![]() | Re: Certain items far too underpowered for their rarity - discuss! Now some folk think that many things are useless... Honestly there are dozens of the Marties and Arties that I would never ever use.... the mask of orcish kin for starters..... how about a covorting club anyone??? A ton of the weapons are far too slow to be practical... Crystline ring is good????? No it has Zero FC or FCR..... waste of a ring..... Maybe if you had tons of money and all you could afford an Orni... I don't think for the average player that's too likely..... I don't think the mask of the travisty is that over powered or anything..... One thing I keep reminding myself of when they come out with a bunch of new goodies.... is that it's a bunch of these goodies that have seriously unbalanced the game.... and PvP.... so when they come out with things that are more for asthetics... than for domination..... I'm all for it.... I guess I'd rather have art and balance than another Must have item to wear in PvP. ![]() ![]() ![]()

The main problem is that for most semi-decent pieces there's a much better piece to use in the same slot, rendering them virtually useless.

Quote: Anyway, the crystalline is nice, and since most people only use 2/6 you don't really need a ring slow to have fc or fcr because there are other things that will give you 2/6. get a 1/3 bracelet, add a museum shield and you're already at 2/5. Helm of Swiftness is another 1/2 I think. Also, Helm of Insight I believe is a paladin helm. Was never meant to be used by a mage, or person with med. |

![]() | Re: Certain items far too underpowered for their rarity - discuss! The Mark has much better resists, the Dread's Revenge is useful for PvM spawning and PvP at choke points, Dread's Flute sounds cool, and replenishes, which is enough for me ;P, Vet clothing shouldn't be any more than +3, they've been like that forever, and what else are you going to use for a robe? but the quiver of infinity usually trumps the cloak, the cathat reg statues, well, i have maybe 20-30 (they shouldn't have been that hard to obtain? ;/), and I never use them, but I still don't think they are underrated, because you are getting something for nothing every day, green thorns, the 9 day wait shouldnt up the spawn if you can buy a thorn from any player at any time and reap the rewards ;p, crystalline ring is completely uber, and reverses wand and other mage weps...requires orny and inquis though, so people who use it are very, very rich...and perhaps a slim majority (+20 focus for an elf gives +2 stam regen and +1 mr) helm of insight was useful until the rune beetle carapace and other modern items made it obsolete. orny is annoying because no DCI or SDI, but it is so useful for the mods it does have . |

![]() ![]() | Re: Certain items far too underpowered for their rarity - discuss! Back to the original intent of the thread: "Some items are far too underpowered for their rarity" and "many items are too overpowered for their availability" are not mutually exclusive statements. This thread was designed to concentrate on the first proposition. Other items that are far too rare (although not underpowered, since they don't really have much use): - Stout Whip; I honestly spent over four hours to get one, and Orcs drop fast people. - Disintegrating thesis notes; When you start to worry that the first one is going to decay before you find the 5th one, that's a little absurd. - Threads of fate; I have a crate full of Threads of Life, but only two Threads of Fate. Obviously, there is a trick to getting them I haven't figured out. I'm sticking to my guns with the green thorns. I don't care where you bought them, *someone* still had to take nine days to get just one. ~M |

TONS of people incorporated the BloodSpirit on their template for the +15 skills....not to mention alot of Sammy's use it so they can have as little Necro as possible to cast Vamp Embrace. The Brightsight lenses were used by TONs of people until templates changed...they have ridiculous Fire Resist and 3 MR. The Boomstick has 3 MR and 20 LRC...its a fantastic cheap piece. Alot of VIP! was using the Helm of Swiftness for the 2/1....and they are the best PvPers in the game. They all get used....the Cavorting Club is a fantastic piece to use on Siege for the speed and Resists. They all serve their purpose except Raeds Glory and Blade Dance. Those both suck. But seriously, Blade Dance, Raeds Glory are pretty much the only ones with 0 use anywhere. Even the Holy Knights Breatplate has a use. Put it on for Ogre Lords...with high Physical and Reflect Physical and increase HP...its an ideal suit building piece if you want a PVO suit. Since Ogre Lords are often camped..its obviously good money and loot. So its a decent piece for that. Seriously, some of you think far too narrow and dont realize not every piece is gonna be great for all situations like the Orni, HOM or Totem of Void. Some pieces just have great uses for certain situations. AKA The Frostbringer...getting rid of revnants

I almost agree with you on the Thesis Notes . Sometimes, they take forever to obtain. I think this is partly a problem due to the "keys" to a peerless decaying in the monster's backpack. Or in other words, if no one does the spawn, from server up till 8pm local, I think some of the keys might have disintegrated by then. I could be wrong.I can't agree with you on the green thorns because once you hit 9 days growing 30+ plants, you develop a stockpile, and the vorpals are so easy to kill. Have you ever used a frenzied ostard pack to kill a vorpal? So amazingly fast. You might be limited by 9 days, but if you grow them in sequence, you can grow them so once you breach 9 days you will never have a time when you do not have a thorn available. I did this with orange petals until I had 500, then got tired of taking care of the things. The best loot in game is off of Champion bosses, Peerless, and the Dark Father. I think the hardest things in the game should drop the best loot, not bunnies.

Also to stick with the posts topic, I don't find any items far too underpowered for their rarity. If I get any artifact I wear it (with pride even if it is not exactly the best item for my build). That being said I only have about 3 artifacts as I only get them when they drop for me, I never buy them (well maybe I would buy them if I had any money but I am not gold flush in game). Like when I got an artic death dealer I switched from swords to maces because I was so proud of my loot. I know I am a nub ![]()

You mis-understand me. I pretty much hate VIP! I know they cheat. They came back to Atlantic last night...but on different guild names. I was being chased by Ecstacy and another one. They were running faster then me WHILE casting Flamestrike. and Pain spike. Keep in mind, I am not casting....just hauling ass....yet they caught me and ran faster then me WHILE CASTING! I know they cheat....but they still beat me....and unless OSI does something about the cheating ...they are better then me. I will relish in the day where they cant hack and cheat to wins. Please, please please dont think I like them. I just commented on them being the best because they roll over everyone...I know they cheat. But if OSI isnt going to ban them. We are screwed. Tim Duncan is the biggest whiner and hack and goes over the back on every play for rebounds....but the refs dont call it. So I am stuck saying he "dominates"...unless the refs get their head out of their butts.

![]() ![]() | Re: Certain items far too underpowered for their rarity - discuss! Darnit, people, stop hijacking my thread to talk about Pee Vee Pee. Shoo. I completely concur on the rare fish - far to useless for the time required to get a significant number of them. ~M |
