I've seen the 600+ million for a castle, what in UO is worth more? I've noted the fake auctions posting for over 2 billion, actual bidding hitting only in the 300's last I saw.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: It was bound to happen Oh dear... most cash I ever had was 10 mil in the bank. Of course I have no clue what my stuff is worth, but if it's over 50 mil, I'd be surprised. but, what the heck, it's about the fun not the money. And obviously he didn't have fun anymore with all that pricey stuff or he wouldn't quit. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: It was bound to happen Although it has never sold (and, according to the owner never will), perhaps (and this is MY opinion), the single most valuable item in the game exists at MOA auction on Great Lakes. It is a truly one of a kind Exploding Oil Flask, and is the coolest item you will likely see in game. I have talked to many collectors, who stated that if it was ever auctioned, the x-sharding of characters to get it would be unprecedented, and the likely sale price would easily exceed one billion dollars. Silverfoot (or anyone else), if you would like to see it, and it IS well worth seeing, create a GL character and I would be more than happy to meet up with you at a prearranged location and take you and show it to you. Adri, I'm not a rich man either, but those folks that are astute vendor operators can make that kind of money. There was a discussion of vendor operator on Stratics, where several top notch dealers (DVI from Atlantic, Thomas Bryce, etc.) make 100 plus mill a week off their vendors. This kind of gold allows you to deal in the rares market where the REAL money is in game. I only dabble, and I don't have that kind of cash, but even common items from a long time ago are now very valuable items in game. Remember cloaks that said "Sewn by XXX" and are double blessed and double exceptional? Although somewhat common in 1999, they are very uncommon today, and worth 20+ million. A guildie bought one last night off of an alliance member for the killer price of 15 million. He could make a fast 5-10 million with little effort. That same guildie bought a "naughty bag" from Christmas many years ago last week for 15 million. The coal ALONE in that bag was probably worth that, let alone the Spam/cards/empty bag itself. And THAT is how gold is made hehe. Also, FWIW, IDOC's can be killer money makers as well. I don't commit to doing them much, but I have done very well at a few, including one where I walked away with full or partially full bottles of Rum Red Tok dye, Invul blue, Berserker red and Fire orange. Probably 15 mill worth, plus about 10 more mill in some other stuff (hay, saddle, etc.). The gold is out there if you can commit the time, which is always the biggest hurdle. ![]() Last edited by jfk; 05-03-2008 at 06:17 AM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: It was bound to happen The Lieutenant Guard Sashes (the ones with +2 Mana Regeneration) have sold for up to 1.8 billion gold. As for being able to legitimately collect that much gold in UO it is entirely possible. When character transfers first opened our guild sold over 1 billion worth of power/stat scrolls in a couple weeks. As a recent LLTS interview pointed out, the same effort expended to put together a measly 10k 10 years ago could earn someone millions today. If I played like I did back in 2000 I could easily pull in hundreds of millions every month. If you work hard at it the gold will come.

![]() | Re: It was bound to happen Whats the rate of exchange these days for gold? around $2.00 to $2.50 per mil? With discounts for bulk buys. Lets see I'm no math wizard but off the top on my little brain that translates at best into a couple thousand RL dollars per billion. In a UO long long ago gold had value but much like the US dollar it has fallen into a state of disgrace and of very little value. I have nothing against those who's game play is based upon how much gold they can accumulate,if they enjoy what they are doing ,well more power to them, but they are not players that I am inclined to interact with. The quest for massive amounts of gold has lead far to many players away from what I view the game's focus was and should be. To roleplay a virtual character in a game and have the oppurtunity to meet like minded people and join together for entertainment. When I turn the game off I leave with a sense that I just came from a fun engagement much like going to a party or concert,,I don't leave the game with the feeling that I just got done with a day on the job. -IronHorse's Player Last edited by IronHorse; 05-03-2008 at 10:38 AM. |

![]() | Re: It was bound to happen Hmm, if you had said trillion or something i'd of been more surprised. I think there are a large percentage of players in the game now worth 1 billion or over, I still have around that in gold lieing around. But I do agree with the previous comments that to accomulate that amount of money you do have to devote yourself to do the trading market, particularly buying and selling through vendor malls. |
