A bit annoyed, but not angry.

Well, I was in deceit hunting monsters with my brother today. I had a less than developed char and as you may guess, I died. Which is fine, we were partied up and I had the setting that allowed my corpse to be looted. Well, turns out that my brother still could not loot my body. We thought maybe my body had to be bones for him to loot. Nope, didn't work. So, I put in a page to a GM for assistance.

I got some standard message asking me to go to the player knowledge base. I was a bit annoyed by that. I was not asking how to use the party system or how to allow partied members to loot my corpse, I already know. I was reporting that my party could not loot my corpse even though the settings were accurate. My bones disappeared and I was a ghost. It would have been neat if my brother could rez me but, his healing was only about 70. I was hosed.

Why couldn't a real GM come in and see what the problem was? Because they suck. And I felt so sure that they sucked that I submitted another GM page and said "YOU GUYS SUCK." I laughed at the response I got from that, because it said they could not identify the problem and referred me to the player knowledge base. That of course, was quite childish on my part, and there are probably hundreds of those sent in a day.

In the end, I am glad that I normally do not run into problems in the game because the support mechanism is not very good. If the problem is clearly a result of my ignorance then sure, send me to the knowledge base. However, if I can clearly state that I have taken the necessary steps to use the system as intended I should not be sent to a knowledge base. I am sure the GM pages are not read by people and therefore we get sent to the knowledge base. Customer support sucks.

Overall, I still like the game. One incident is not going to make me leave the game, however, it will make me wish I had the millions of dollars it would take to buy out the company and fire everyone associated with my favorite game of all time. And then re-hire them because I wouldn't know the first thing to do with running an MMORPG. Just annoyed, that is all.

The few times that I have needed GM assistance I received the exact same type of message. It was a very generic, albeit polite, "your a noob, please check the website" kind of response.

The more I hear about the GM's, the more I doubt they exist. The program was probably shut down a long time ago and EA never bothered to tell any of the paying customers.

The ingame player support these days is terrible. It once was actually fairly good, when they had Seers, Councilors and GMs... They had more time for the people. Sadly thats over now.. and its a money making machine they are on. The Knowledge base is good though.. But its not enough.
Sometimes one needs ingame support and then it depends alot on who takes the call.. Some are nice.. others got pms 24/7 356 days a year. Its true!

never had a issue with gms nor customer support and just had a gm come to a character and fix a issue on them within 4 minutes of sending in a page yesterday in fact.... suppose it depends on ones luck or in whom is the gm on call ... but for me never in the past 10 years has a issue not been taken care of by a gm or via phone support...

I can't help wondering why you didn't run out, find a healer, rez and return to loot your own corpse? With your brother running interference on the way back in?
I never call a gm if there's a way to handle the problem without one.

Dont get me wrong though.. ive had great support at times... but it all depends who answers really..

Im not counting the times ive frustrated paged a gm

There is always more to a story than the easy read.

I did not run out and get a healer to heal me because we were deep in the dungeon and there are no healers immediately outside of Deceit, you have to wander around the player housing and avoid orc camps and frost troll that randomly spawn.

Second, even if I were to find a healer relatively close, how would I make it back all the way naked? Even if my brother ran interference?

Third, the issue wasn't that I died, that is expected. The issue was that the party loot corpse was not working the way it should.

You folks that always say that kind of garbage about try to solve it yourself, how the hell would you solve some game mechanics you have no control over?! If it is supposed to work, it is supposed to work or the people responsible for making sure it works are supposed to take action bottom line.

I am not someone new to the game, I have quite a few years experience and deaths in dungeons that I can tell if the easy solution is to run out and go through the gauntlet to get your corpse. I just did that last night in twisted weald (different char) with a Hydra and Coil lurking about the entrance...you have to know when you can do those things.

Short answer, probably better than all the crap I put up there. I did not run out and rez and run back in because it was not possible.
