Beginner Question

Just wondering, is it fairly easy to solo in this game (like it is in WoW)?

I don't like comparing MMOs to each other, but being able to solo through the whole game is pretty important to me. I know I might not be able to experience EVERYTHING the game has to offer only soloing, but I rarely am able to play long enough to find a group, then do stuff with said group, so it's very important that I can solo through the game.

Re: Beginner Question

This game will give you the freedom WoW doesnt. I play WoW too. You can pretty much solo this whole game with the right set of skills. Be sure to go to Uo Stratics and read up on classes ect as well as here. You will enjoy this game alot more then WoW if you like to solo hunt, believe me.

Re: Beginner Question

Sweet, thanks.

I'm gonna pick up the 9th Anniversary Collection in a couple days when I get my laptop back from repairs. I've wanted to play this game for a long time

Last question. I've seen some stuff on it in FAQs and such, but haven't seen any simple answers for people like me that haven't played it yet: Can you respec your character? So, lets say you level up and put points into a skill or stat that you don't want (not sure how the class system works), can you remove the skill or stat points and re-allocate them to a different skill/stat?

Re: Beginner Question

Yes, you can remove/lower both skills and stats.

Skills are easier IF you have a soulstone/soulstone fragment (which you don't have) but you can still do it by setting whichever skill you want to take off to lower (there are arrows (up & down) or a lock for each skill to set to raise, lower, or lock) and whichever skill you want to add to raise.

Stats work the same, but don't have an item like soulstones/fragments. You would have to put one to lower, and the other to raise, and use skills which would cause you to gain in the stat you want to go up.

Edit: BTW Welcome to The Forums!!! And welcome to UO!

Re: Beginner Question

Playing solo is great in UO and you will always find something to do but if you get a chance, join a guild for a while, just to see how fun it can be. My characters have mostly played solo but its always fun to go in a group too.

Re: Beginner Question

Welcome to the boards. Let us know how you progress through the game, alot of us thrive on new players experiences.

Also, keep us informed of your shard selection. We can usually help people find mentors who are willing to help soften the learning curve.

Don't expect to be able to solo everything right away though. Takes some time to learn your hot keys, learn strategies, gain skills, and get the right equipment.

Have you checked out the getting started thread? http://www.uoforums.com/f1301/getting-started-faqs-31039/

Your question is noted, and I will be adding a discussion on skill and stat management shortly. Thank you for a great question!

For monster pics, try uo.stratics.com hunters guide.

A good place to find monster pictures, is Stratics' hunters area
