Re: Argh, they missed some dupers.

Well, scrolls and val hammers and such, are attainable in game through mechanics that allow you to work up for them.

Most others, especially lvl 11 arties are just by mere chance. I mean, I have several lvl 11 arties, acquired through many ways, but I'm using them. Im not selling them, or trying to distribute them. I mean, it's one thing to have these items, but to have so many that you can sell them, and sell them frequently? That raises suspicion. That's why you can't yell DUPER to someone without atleast a small amount of investigation to go along with it.

I know I've cried wolf on these two particular vendors, but it is because I have kept an eye on them since they started up there, about 2 months ago, and have noticed all the key signs of dupe selling behavior, as mentioned in my previous post.

As Twothumb has pointed out though, it is definitely a buyer beware type of game. If someone is selling someting for way to cheap, or selling something that you know is very rare too frequently, that should be enough of a tip off for you. If you still choose to buy the item, that's fine, and you have every right to make that choice. If you do get punished for it though, knowing that all the signs were there previously, then it is your own fault.

Re: Argh, they missed some dupers.

I do tons of bods with my 4 accounts and I NEVER been close to a valorite hammer, so to say that someone with more then 1 hammer got it legit is very laughtable.
Other runics are easier but even say a gold hammer is quite hard to get, barbed kits tho is WAY easier to get ahold of thus they are much cheaper.
(gotten like 7 of those this year personaly)

It can be legit but I find it to be a very very remote chance at someone having more then 1 top smith hammer at a time.

Re: Argh, they missed some dupers.

Worth bearing in mind a few things, UOT has 50 UO accounts....50!

Not to mention he's probably the biggest and busiest broker in UO

There's 150,000 active accounts in UO at present (roughly), so it wouldn't be impossible to get that many valorite hammers imo

What is this new system you speak of? That was one of my main complaints of the BoD system before, waiting to get another and the complete randomness of what you get.....

As soon as you turn in a BOD, you can get another one right away. You don't need to wait for the 6 hour timer anymore.

Re: Argh, they missed some dupers.

this is a touchy subject for me because i feel there needs to be a cap on how much gold a char should be able to hold.stuff that was going for 500k when i first started is now going for 15 mill! it has past the point of stupidity and needs to be addressed.uo is loosing ground fast to gold farmers and dupers.i wish there was a way for the uo programers to create a program that would only allow a char to hold so many bank checks in their bank box and so many in a house at a time.thus creating a cap on how much gold one account can have.yes there are people who would loose alot of gold by doing this but this is a loss i`d be willing to take to reduce the amount of profiteirs on the game.they are taking the fun out of this game.i`d like to see a 10 mill cap on all accounts.there is no reason (i don`t care who you are) to have any more than that....just my 2 cents.

and by the way...i have allmost 90 mill in the bank i worked very hard to get by getting arties the hard way and selling them.i would gladly give it all up to stop the massive influx of gold on my shard.i wish uo would outlaw/ban all websites that sell in game items/gold.because they are expoiting the game for profit.i don`t see how people can look at it any other way?they are the slow death of all things that make this game great.BAN ALL BROKERS!!!!!

I disagree, wholeheartedly, the idea of brokering ingame items is good IMHO. It's those that abuse the system, dupers, that tend to give good brokers a bad name.
I see no difference, as I've repeatedly said, in investing my hobby (mostly resources to save time) then a golfer investing $300 for a putter in his hobby.

The issue is controlling abusers, IMHO

Re: Argh, they missed some dupers.

Some brokers provide a valuable and decently priced service, but most are just out there to make as much money as possible, regardless of the moral implications.

Re: Argh, they missed some dupers.

i was just voicing my opinion....i know people disagree with what i say and i`m cool with that.i`m the type of person that hates playing gta san andres with buddies watching them use the cheat codes.that goes right thru me for some reason.my philosophy is if you can`t do it within the confines of the gameplay then why play at all?i`ll admit i`m a trammelite to a point....but i`m not gonna be that dude (we`ve all seen them) standing at brit bank that spends 99 percent of their ongame time standing there showing off their whole doom loot/peerless wardrobe they bought off of ebay/brokers trying to act all "uo gangsta".i refuse to be that dude.

Re: Argh, they missed some dupers.

haha, as well you should refuse to be that guy! It's like the people who buy huge SUVs, or muscle cars to make up for their insecurities. To each his own I say! However, brokering is useful to those who don't have time to play as often, but wish to be able to atleast compete with others who do have the time to get everything in game on their own.

The problem with brokering is that if the brokers start using that venue as their main source of income, well then, they start to do some shady things. We all want more money, because money allows us to do things that we'd otherwise wouldn't have the capacity to do. So as a result, greed comes into factor, and people will do what they can to get more money. There in lies the problem. People see an easy shady method of getting more money, and think, oh what harm could this do, it's just a game after all. They can't put faces to the customers they're scamming so who cares! They get their money, so it's a win situation! Those brokers, should be prevented from owning a computer, let alone banned from the game.

With alot of bods, there are also bod rewards. Its going to take alot more than mere speculation to prove someone a duper.

I have alot of scrolls, and all someone has to say is I duped them because of the sheer volume of scrolls is ridiculous. Lets not turn this into a Salem witch hunt. Before you go around accusing someone in public, send your proof to the Moderaters and let them make the call.

I have turned in over 10 thousand filled bods over the years and have never gotten even one of the small pieces for the bod which gets you the valorite hammers, most of those I have turned in since the option to get a bod for a bod was put in. Just with that information alone, assuming that you are filling bods to turn in. there is no way in hell you will ever turn in enough bods to get the parts and larges for the valorite hammer. Is never going to happen. If you think the person who had the 50 hammers is not duping you must believe everything you read on the internets. Even with buying the normal stuff the bods call for, and smithing the exceptional things, I could not mine enough ore to fill that many bods in a century. When I mine I can pull out over 5k of ingots an hour, when smithing I can go through 30k in an hour, and that only fills a hundred or so bods.....

Scrolls are nothing, valorite hammers, your lucky if you even see one, let alone find one for sale. I expect the comparison would be if you had 50 120 magery scrolls then I could see your point, more than willing to bet you dont. 50 105 ninja scrolls are doable, I am willing to bet, closer to the truth.
