Nok, I'm not going to disagree with you. In essence, that's the way things should be.

BUT

Adam has continuously tried to get more (or should I say, something, anything) from the EAM team and received nothing but, well, nothing. He either gets pushed off the table, a thanks we'll get back to you later letter, or the cold shoulder.

If things worked the way they should, UOF would get the same attention that Stratics does (not a knock on Stratics), but we don't.

I'll bash the EAM team for their blatent disregard to customer relations, ill-fated changes, bugs/fixes not implemented/worked on, etc. and Stratics is just a different issue that unfortunately gets tossed in with them 'cause they are the only place the EAM team goes to (regularly), and I have my own different gripes about them.

Howdy everyone!

Our sincerest apologies for the forum downtime. Things are quite more complicated than we can describe. Please be assured, as Piotr said, that our tech team and others are working very very hard to get the forums available once again. And yes, we have highly skilled people in our tech team, on contrary to what another poster stated...

If it was just a matter of a technical glitch.. we wouldn't be having this discussion. I really wish we could explain just what happened, however because of what happened we cannot go into detail on that at this time.

Just rest assured that our forums/site/database did not get hacked. We were not sold out to anyone. Ultima Online is not closing down. We will be bringing the forums back just as soon as humanly and technologically possible.

No other downtime Stratics has experienced is similar to this downtime and quite frankly, what happened could happen to just about any site out or forum out there.

On the bright side, the Stratics IRC Servers are totally unaffected and we have been seeing large increases in IRC users who play UO (and other games) on the Stratics IRC Network.

Its called disaster recovery...off site backups/servers? even though its nice that this site is gettn alot more attention with stratics down

Even off site is out of date. I cannot fathom any problem short of domain name loss that could cause a downtime like this. The site, server, boards and all should be available on VM and be able to be returned to service in a matter of hours. There is no other excuse honestly. They have not taken the proper precautions to ensure their uptime status. Hope they pull something out soon.

Just kidding...I like Stratics, too. I came to this site through Stratics, and it's a wonderful source of information and a great place to find links to all kinds of other cool sites. I enjoy the boards there, too...Especially the Chesapeake forum. I hope everything works out soon! Thank you for doing your best to fix the issue.

I know. I read the forums. Adam and I talk.

Just out of curiosity, do you or anyone else know how much I promote Adam and UO Forums? 42 times alone as news on UOToolbar.org. Multiple links all over the UO Toolbar. Multiple links on the other toolbars (like LOTROXbar & WoWXbar, because those games are supported on UOForums).

Why? I know you know why, but it needs to be said just for drill. Because Adam is a great admin and runs an awesome forum. UO Forums is an asset to the UO community. Adam busts his ass making UO Forums what it is and constantly betters it to make it what it can be. Outside of the UOF members, I believe UOF is under appreciated... so I mention UOF every chance I get.

In that same vein, I believe Stratics and EAM are both over demonized (not by you, but by the community at large).

I agree with you on that, EAM need to be more accessible to their communities. Ideally all the community contributors (TTL, UOForums, UO Guide, UO Stratics, WRRAD, UO Toolbar, etc.) would all get that opportunity. But we have to deal with the cards we are dealt, or try to make it better... even if that means the community builds closer ties within itself with minimal company support.

The only way that might change... is for the community as a whole to tell EAM, "this is what WE need". Just saying "it'll never happen" won't make things change... the community has to actually DO something.

Are there things EAM could do better? Sure. Absolutely. But bashing someone over the head with the past isn't going to make things any better. Asking for & offering workable (meaning learning to pick one's battles) solutions is more likely to get their attention.

I know you do, and I didn't ask -you- to stop... and wouldn't expect any less Dip. I respect you Dip. But let me be honest, there isn't one bad thing that can be said about UO or EA that the entire community has already heard for 10 years. People get it.

I know it's frustrating. That's why we love and hate the games we play. Why people like Adam & the UOF crew; Larisa, Orvago, Piotr, *zigzag* & the UOS team; JC The Builder & Cogniac on UOGuide; Flutter & Thradia on TTL; Crystal Rose & Sandman on WRRAD; Jeremy, Draconi, Leurocian, Chrissay, Kilandra, Supreem & the UO Team; and many more are so passionate about not just the game... but the UO community.

Pitr don't worry I am still around, and even though I do report on the Catskills shard for Stratics, I do come to UOForums to see whats up over here. I use to even work hand in hand with their old reporter that covered Catskills so that both boards could keep the players up to date.
Like the rest of you I am going through Stratics withdraw, and with recent in game events I have had much I have wanted to post stories about. Still I keep hoping that Stratics forums when they do return will be faster and better for everyone who uses them.
