Anyone hear

That they are thinking of capping lrc at something less then 100%???

I heard that wilki said this in a thread on stratics.

Re: Anyone hear

I think this is the thread you are talking about?

http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/u...v=#Post6178524

One snippet from Wilki's post and I'm not sure how to read this........"As for mana regeneration, as it is now, some players have item/skill combinations that pretty much make mana a non-factor in combat for them. They never need to actively meditate, and rarely have to wait for their mana to regen in order to cast the next spell. That shouldn't be the case.

Mages should have to actively med sometimes, and they should run out of mana if they chain lots of spells one after the other for long periods of time. (Nor should reagents be a non-factor either, but that's for a much later discussion.)

Now, before anyone gets up in arms about this, realize that this situation was not intended, and bringing some of these uber abilites back into line is vital to restoring balance to PvP and PvM. Does that mean that the players who have ultra-high end suits might find themselves less effective at certain things? Yes. But the basic combat balance that all of UO was designed around is out of whack, and it needs adjusting."

Re: Anyone hear

Actually the old saying "Be carefull of what you wish for." comes to mind.

An overhaul of the PVP system is definately going to have some affect on all combat actions. How can one overhaul a system and change nothing?

Every skill should have it's plus and minus side. Unlimited mana or no reagent cost is a tad unbalancing also.

IMHO

Re: Anyone hear

I don't see it being a big issue. It's going to make training magery more expensive.. and PvP actually becomes risky again.. I think its a good idea. Obviously they're not going to nerf LRC suits that much.. too many people will scream about it.. I forsee an 85% LRC cap... and if you've ever worn 85%.. you're still using a reg every 5th or 6th spell cast if not less.

Re: Anyone hear

I doubt Id log with my Mage very often if that comes about. The whole I reason I ever even started a pure mage was because of lrc suits.

My Tamer wouldnt be affected all that much really. Only use regs to heal myself if needed and recall/gate, so I wouldnt even need to carry every kind.

If they start really futzing about with everything to "balance" PvP, they could very well lose a good deal of PvMers...myself included.

OOOOOooo! I can tell you my dad will be UBER PISSED if they cap LRC. Over 1300 luck with 100 LRC. Yeah, he'll be pissed to say the least.

Re: Anyone hear

Personally, I'd be fine with it. I was fine with regs...don't get me wrong though. I looove my LRC suit, BUT I can never get it to the resists that I want/need it. But it's nice to be able to die with a LRC suit insured.

But it really won't bother me. Magery is the skill I've been playing since I first started UO, it was my first character, so I like to think that I can be proficient with regs or without them. I know when to run! lol

Re: Anyone hear

Ughh I dunno... Man I hate regs! Or should I say running outta regs... That was the worst part for me, carrying tons of regs so I would not run out so fast, and not being able to hold anything else. Really put the hurt on gold farming hehe... I would dislike losing LRC for sure...

Re: Anyone hear

For me, the idea of not needing reagents seems very odd and un-UO. But then again, so do all the darn numbers and crap all over items when you hover over them. I'm sort of disappointed that the game seems way more about number crunching than it did when I last played. EVERYTHING is magical with this or that attribute.

Do I think lower reagents needed for spells is cool? Hell yeah. Do I think it's cool to need no reagents for spells? Well, cool in a way that makes me feel like I am cheating. It's like being an archer that doesn't need arrows. Oh, wait. They are doing that too.

Can we have bandages that don't run out for us pure fighters? How about a helmet that makes it so you can max out as many skills as you want, and a monacle that won't allow damage to come to you?

Magery needs to be balanced. And right now I can see it's not. It's not my fault if people have gotten spoiled with free magic casting. It's not the way the game was designed, and I'm surprised it even got past a test shard to be honest!

What's next? An item that lets you cast magic using a weapon skill?

*nods*...I feel the exact same way on those two points. We have been spolied with the free casting and to me it feels odd. Odd to me because, magic shouldn't be free to me. We lose mana, which is good, but my mage had med and focus and I very rarely run out of mana. I guess I didn't mind that struggle when you died and lost your regs. *shrugs*

Just how I feel of course. I don't think they will ever take LRC away...but lowering it to a different cap is completely ok with me.
