I was able to log in fine just now. Both 2d and KR.
Oops edit that: KR just kicked me out. It's weird after I logged in and picked my shard, that's when it booted me out and gave me the We can't authenticate error message.
Any update on this, is it a generic issue? Or have EA Confirmed the problem?

yes i am having the same problem. Played for about 4 days or so and then i get the mwssage they can't authenticate my login and that either a new patch is available or i gave worng account name or password. Think it is a big bug problem they have..
Just wanted to let you guys know that I can get on TC1 Pub45, but no other servers.
There is a thread over in the KR Forum on Stratics about this too, but some people are claiming that they are still able to log in fine everywhere....strange. perhaps they have an older version of the client that patching didnt effect in this matter?
