Anyone else have trouble soloing Vanguards?
I was in Nujel'm attempting to solo a Vanguard.
I lured it back into the castle corner so that when its spawn came ...it usually spawned outside the castle walls... Well, I was doing this with a 5x GM Cu Sihde Which was going just fine and smooth until it got to about 2/10 of life...which took maybe 5 minutes... Well, then for literally 55 minutes, I couldnt get it below 2/10. It kept healing itself constantly.....this is the same problem I have run into with Ancient Wyrms on lvl 6 chests.... Some of these monsters heal themselves way way way too much when they get low. |

I can solo them on my Vamp/Sam pretty easy..I tried on my tamer ran into same problem i had to resort to dragging it outside of towwn and casting lvl8 spells and WOD on it until it died. A lot easier on my Sammy.

Well, I can solo them in Wraith form on my mage with Spellweaving spells up...as Wither hits them for 90 per with my SDI...but I was thinking more along the lines of tamers trying to solo them.

use a greater and spam mind blast. you just have to overwhelm his heals when he gets low health.

Re: Anyone else have trouble soloing Vanguards?
I haven't tried poisoning, but with a greater dragon and a little Fc/FCR I think you could probably spam poisons and keep him busy having to cure instead of heal as your greater finishes off the hp.
I usually play on my archer though, and I always make sure mortal stike is up! Its a must, and archers that don't use it are lame-O!!! ![]() |

Quote:
biggest problem I had during this battle was it spawning more minions, then I have to pull back, kill off the spawn, and go back to the Vanguard, who by then would be back up to over a 4th of health. Took forever to kill it. Later when I had one alone, and if someone came by I yell "Feel free to hit it!". All I want is clear the spawn at one city and go to the next. ![]()
