Any way for a miner to survive the attack of a blackrock elemental?

Hehe, I was cave mining for those ingots to waste in Heartwood and was unfortunate enough to pull up one of those insta death dealing monsters. I saw one flash of a red # and everything turned grey. Old reflexes weren't fast enough to hit the recall button on the already opened runebook to Luna. I hear the death moans of my packy and fire beetle. Okay time to find a rez, but alas no one to be found at 1 am. My ghost waltzes over to Luna for a healer on the east side. I brazenly recall back to the cave and find the blackrock is still there, but no corpses of pets or myself...just dead pets and UH OH it's targetting me again. RUN!!! Dang, I must learn to walk faster as a ghost! Anyway, has anyone figured out a way to avoid these blackrock elementals, or escape them alive?

Running is the only method.

Guess I'll just make sure I have plenty of insurance money in the bank. I was dead before I realized it was time to hightail it! Lost some gems, a sending bag, some tools, and about 3k ingots..around an hour's work. Talk about jumping out of one's chair!!!

Ouch, yeah, other than having high resists, and some FC to help you get out there faster, not much else to do.

Unless you go the hiding route(you could continuously invis also), then only need to worry if it's close enough for it's aura to damage you.

I didnt think that they were still popping up from caves...

My advice? Stick to mountainsides till the whole thing blows over

There is hardly a way to beat them in a group lol. It can be done, but isn't worth the effort.

Re: Any way for a miner to survive the attack of a blackrock elemental?

This is why whenever I was in areas where there were blackrock infested beings, I ALWAYS had protection on(my mages, that is) so I could get out of dodge if need be.

To escape alive: Make sure you have lots of hit points (because you WILL take damage), your running shoes on, and pay attention like you are newbie blue in Fel.
