What I would love for everyone to do is keep a log of first impressions, good things noticed, bad things noticed, etc. and have it on hand for when the NDA is lifted.

It would be very nice to see if the things I see are what other people see and vice versa.

****NOTE****: Do not post anything here obviously. Keep it written or in a text doc on your puter or whatever, but dont go jumping the gun. We will all have plenty to talk about once the NDA is lifted...

Also be interesting to note how many of those bad impressions are influenced by the frustrations of download and install.

In aviation we have a philosophy that things that look bad on first visual tend to break more. The reason is, people expect things that look bad to BE bad, so they test it more critically that something that looks brand new.

Same thing applies to this situation. If you have THIS much frustration involved in just opening it, how objective REALLY are the inputs? Or are the inputs more harshly critical based on the frustration level?

At work, the longer a patient has to wait for the CT Scan, the worse they think the injection of dye is...

If anyone had a bad experience from DLing and let THAT have an effect on how they view anything in game, they need to re-think whether or not they should be in Beta.

frustrated as frustrated can get, i still cant get the thing to install correctly, i am so rdy to just take it all over and forget it, actually i have thought about throwing the computer out in the yard, but thank goodness i have not went postal yet

First impressions:

(Note: The following is from a player who has played UO 2D for a little over four years and only tried the 3D two maybe three times at the most. Has not played any other online games and hasn't played many console games since super nintendo. I also have only about thirty real minutes in beta testing time)

We are definitely not in Kansas any more.

It looks to be a steep learning curve for this old timer. I am heavily macro dependent as a bard/tamer. It is going to take some time before I am ready to go and tackle the monsters that I am used to hunting. Using the "enter" key to speak will take some getting used to. Until then I can get all kind of things popping up on my screen

. Saying all, that do want to say "I am willing to really give it a really big work out." Especially if it makes it easier for the devs to fix/upgrade game play and keep cheating under control.
