Re: Advice from the 2-D client community please

Thanks for all the great info, everyone.

I logged in one of my chars in the 2D client and have a few thoughts and a question or two.

The client is pretty cool in most regards:

1) Weather! Very cool.
2) Seems like performance is better than under 3D. I noticed that I don't get stuck behind trees now...
3) Radar map show you as a blinking dot. Minor thing, but useful.
4) Targeting is great in 2D!
5) Buff/Debuff is great too.

The only thing I haven't got used to, and it was mentioned earlier, is the containers. Uggghh. I've got a lot of work to do in my house.

Question: What do you all do at night? Is it supposedto be practically pitch black in 2D? Luckily I was outside my house when it went dark and I managed to make my way in and grab a bracelet that had Night Sight. If I had been out in the forest I'm not sure what I would have done.

Anyway, thanks again for the advice!

It can get really dark in 2d. Be sure to carry night sight or that bracelet.

One more thing before I forget..dying in 2d if you have containers in your backpack with blessed items. When you autoloot all that ends up in the main pack

I am one of those ,hehe.I love the Dark nights effect,as it gives the game a MUCH more realistic 'feel' for me.

It can be DARN scary though if it happens when your in a dungeon

I agree. It's nice to see your crystal globes and candles light up at night

Re: Advice from the 2-D client community please

I am one of those 3D only players, though I am still kinda a newbie. I lost a huge amount of good stuff (soul seeker, bag of sending, etc.) because I played the 2D client and did a few dumb things in a row. There are some weird differences in the 2D & 3D client. Monsters I could outrun before kept right up with me. Not looking forward to April 2nd.

Welcome to UO Forums and UO Maeglid . Good news for 3d players (well sorta) you have an extra week before they will shut it off.

Re: Advice from the 2-D client community please

An open note to people changing clients:

The first thing I would do is open up 2d, log in, run around a town (or around your house) a bit. Let at least 10 different areas load up.

Now Log out, close UO, and repeat a few times.

Now run a Disk Defrag and repeat this whole process another time or 2.

Ive found that when your puter is used to running one client and then you swap to another, it gets kinda choked up till you let it get used to it a bit.

Re: Advice from the 2-D client community please

The only thing I can think of is the CTRL-click to buy all of one item off of an NPC vendor (like, to buy out all of the mandrake root he has) doesn't work in 2D. You have to hold the up arrow on the NPC vendor all the way till it counts up to the max.

/edit Rhus has informed me that in 2D, this feature works with CTRL-2x click. Thx Rhus!!

In 2D you hold Control and doubleclick the item.
