A Lesson of Time Zones

Some of you belong in a very special time zone challenged group...LOL...so I'm going to stick this here to give you some help.

'Tis not as hard as one might expect

Most people can't use GWT (Greenwhich Time) which is the easiest way to figure things out...so we'll do a North American version using PST (Pacific Time) as our base.

If you live in Pacific Time Zone (PST) then....

Hawaii is 3 hours behind (that's -3)
Mountain is 1 hour ahead
Central is 2 hours ahead
Eastern is 3 hours ahead
Newfoundland is 4 and a half hours ahead

United Kingdom is 8 hours ahead
Japan is 16 hours ahead (which also makes them the next day)
Australia ranges from 16 to 17 hours ahead, depending on what part of Australia you live in.
Example:

Hawaii: 4:00 pm
Pacific: 7:00 pm
Mountain: 8:00 pm
Central: 9:00 pm
Eastern: 10:00 pm

Newfoundland: 11:30 pm

United Kingdom: 3:00 pm
Japan: 11:00 am the next day
Australia: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm the next day
From that you should be able to tell how many hours apart each zone is from you.

Obviously over seas have some exceptions and if you are looking for some help or a different place, this website is a great one.

http://www.worldtimeserver.com

It takes your current time off your computer..then you can use the menu to find where you friends lives or where you are looking for and it will display their time for you.

Don't forget Arizona and Indianopolis, IN who do not have Daylight Savings Time.. so we're always confused when the rest of you set your clocks ahead or forward... *chuckles*

Re: A Lesson of Time Zones

That's your guys problem Spyder! LOL You have to learn to convert not the rest of us.

I used to live in Northern BC in a town that didn't do daylight savings time either...that's confusing for most people except the people that live there.

That's an advanced lesson..and I don't give those classes for free!

Wouldnt that make it....
11 AM the next day in japan.
11AM-12 PM the next day in Australia?

The way you have it currently writen makes it 28 hours ahead in Japan and 28-29 in australia.....
