9th anniversary
Do I need to upgrade my account if I have ML.
Can I claim the tokens and give the code for a friend who doesn't have ML? Or do I get access to new stuff if I upgrade my account with 9th anniversary code. |

The account has to be upgraded first with the code. Then you can use it to claim items. If your friend hasen't started yet, or actually has a fairly new char they don't mind ditching, then you can give them the new account code, while you use the upgrade code.
While you'll be able to see the new tile sets in game, you won't be able to use them in your own home if you do NOT upgrade. No big deal really here. If you have no plans on changing your house. And you could give a rat's arse about the deco items, then save your cash for Kingdom Reborn. Now mind you I never follow my own advice on upgrades. I just like new shiny things. :-P
