2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits
I am curious as to what people prefer the 2d client or 3d. I found that certain things like the character paper dolls and dragons/drakes look better in 2d.. I am curious what everyone else thinks and is doing.

Re: 2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits
Well I chose a 3D option...but in reality I use both.
I use 3D because it is smoother on my computer and I love the options better. I do like a lot of the creature models better. But I still use 2D for PvP (the little I do), and stocking vendors. I don't ever hunt in 2D.

Re: 2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits
I play mostly 3d because of the larger containers and ability to adjust my gameplay window. There are several things I like about 3d, like the moving trees, but I must say most of the artwork is better looking in 2d. The paperdolls in 3d absolutely suck, so when I change clothes, I prefer mixing and matching outfits in 2d first.

Re: 2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits
I use 2d because everything looks better to me, plus I tend to get lag in 3D.
I do wish 2D had the emote system that 3D does though, that's great.

Re: 2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits
I use 2D nowadays, eventhough my computer runs very smoothly on 3d, its just more dependable in PVP. I hate crashing or lagging up in the middle of a fight, or spawn with 200 tags on the screen.
I sort out stuff in the house in 3d, like scrolls cause of the resizing capabilities of 3d. If they implimented this into 2d, I think I would use it entirely. |

Re: 2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits
I think I will end up running 2D for the reasons I stated above. I just have trouble enjoying some of the 3D models and I think the 2d portrait is far superior to 3D same for the drakes etc. Not that graphics are everything of course I just put the poll up because we have the option to choose which client to use.

Re: 2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits
I have tried 3d about three times. First time I hated it... second time I checked to see if I was right about hating it.... I was... third time I checked to see if ANYTHING looked better or played better... It didn't. The ONLY thing I liked was that the backpack was nicer to sort things..

Re: 2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits
Poll options are pretty limiting... I'm only allowed to like 3D for the trees or the models? Hehe.
Anyhoo, I play 3D only as I'm used to the interface and generally find it easier to use. Also I do prefer a lot of the graphics, the 2D paperdolls look better but I like the fact that in 3D the paperdoll is the same thing you see in game - ie if you dress up the paperdoll your avatar actually looks exactly the same. I lag like hell but that's more thanks to my ridiculous hunk of junk 'puter...

Re: 2d vs 3D. Dragons in particular and portraits
I prefer 2D. The older 2D graphics are beautiful (not so sure about some of the newer creations, especially the SE and ML additions) and it does seem to run smoother.
I think 3D looks terrible, it's not fully "3D", and the interface is cumbersome (for me at least). |
