| New players & Seige
Hi
Just wondering if there are many new players or players who are still progressing on siege, or are the most players already 7xgm with all the items they ever wanted?
I ask because I'd like to try it, but not if there are no other players at similar levels of progression to compete with/play with untill I have everything maxxed out.
Edit: I spelt siege wrong in the title and I cant change it

Just go for it.
When I started Siege (probably about April '07) I ran around solo, but whenever I ran across people they were either helpful (someone set me up with about 7 full sets of GM armor) or playful (ok, maybe it was just me getting into fights, but they were good sports).
I'd say out of the fights I got into at my limited skills (most skills hovering around 80's) a good portion (more than half) weren't horrible beatdowns that make you not want to come back.

I think I'll go for it, thanks
I suppose it's a good idea to take a resource gathering skill to start with to make a bit of cash?

You could, if you're the friendly player interactive type.
I soloed everything, took every last gold piece from every mongbat that I wreaked havoc upon, and didn't do too bad starting out.
Takes a little time, I think it was the most fun I had ("starting over" on Siege) minus being with guildmembers/friends my last year playing UO. If I did still play, I'd probably be exclusively there.

I have to ask though, does Seige have a New Haven?

Nope, no Trammel either. Lesson number 1. Grow a thick skin. Some folks will dry loot every kill. Many will only take the real goodies, others will leave everything. It's a roll of the dice, and it's dependent who the player is. If teh die hurts your feelings, Siege is not the place for you...la

Siege also has NEW guild with a continual influx of *immigrants* from other shards starting over on Siege. Shalimar is the GM of NEW guild. They have a keep near Brit north of it all. NEW guild is only good for 30 days but it is a way to meet other new arrivals and to hang out with them in the NEW guild house.
Shalimar's icq number is in Siege Facts etc. the sticky threads atop the Stratics Siege forum.
Resources sell oft folks post it on Stratics Siege forum, selling cloth bolts 350gp per, leathers, etc. to begin to make their first gp on Siege and of course slaying mongbats, lizardmen and upwards as their skills grow. Waste nothing, use it all or sell it. If ya kill a cow cut the hides up those will sell, if ya kill a lizardman cut the hides up those too sell to other players on Siege. Wool never pass it up, 350 gp a cloth bolt you can earn your first 5k quite easily just selling cloth bolts to others on Siege.
There is no New Haven, we have no trammel to get that city, ours is old Ocllo.
It is all a fel ruleset malas, se lands old world lands etc. fel ruleset all of it.
Travel the land hit all the moongates tour *Luna* oft called our ghetto ...get killed say hello to those whom you encounter etc. and you will end up making friends and possibly future guild mates.
There is no insurance, there is the *one item* bless on Siege, many folks sport 120 tailoring legendary barbed outfits for their armor ..easily replaced no biggie if lost or cut up or drylooted etc. If there truely is some item that you may acquire that is high end costly, until you can *defend it* you may opt to just leave it in your bank, or use your one item siege bless on that item, but unless one is going to pvp and till one is GOOD at pvp the wep however fancy won't really save ye butt anyhow so save it till you CAN use it effectively should you come into some artie pricey whatevers that you may need or want as you become skilled.
*most of my chrs. on Siege play assorted crafter types with one stealthing ninja archer template but I do not pvp there* *connection too slow anyhow.
IF ya wish to be entertained DO hit some banks, watch those that are not paying attention loose their stuff out of their backpack due to nimble fingered thieves...tis oft hightly entertaining to see some gasp as they discover they been stolen from by some bank or wherever.

And do not forget you can not *buy* skills from the npcs on Siege, to be *taught* skills. So pick your first skills carefully; the rest of your chrs. skills, ya have to begin from 0.0 like the rest of us all have done. Working your chr. up will take time but there are many whom are continually starting over on Siege, or beginnning new templates even on their oldies on Siege. With pwr scrolls, there are probably more players whom may select only 5 skills or whatever to get all 115 120s for the more crucial and the rest they do not fool with, so not everyone is 7xgm 100 skill, maybe some combot of 4, 5, 6, skills only taken to their pwr scrolled max etc. One chr. per acct. ya just have to pick and choose and till ya get soul stones or soul stone fragments, ya just pick those main few skills that matter more to you, first, to get UP there in points do the extras later on.

Two thing more to remember.
1. The prices in the towns are effected of Factions, so some do have insane prices. Find a cheap factions town if you need to buy regs.
2. NPC vendors won't buy anything and they won't sell resources other than regs, scrolls, bottles, and items more.
However players will be happy to buy your resources.
