Re: The Crown and the City of Trinsic vs. Cressida

Official objection is hereby submitted to the High Court of this hearing of the accused known as Cressida. Official charges only being submitted 3 days prior to hearing date does not allow defence council to properly address said charges and does not allow sufficient time to confer with accused defendant.

Secondly, said trail was only announced less than a full 24 hour period of time, which does not permit the defence to properly prepare for recusal of charges.

Therefore, it is the strong request of the defence to have said "trial" to be reschedueled no earlier than 17 April 2008 to allow defence proper time to prepare against the specific charges which only came to announcement 3 days prior.

Furthermore, it is respectfully requested by the defence for a two (2) week continuence, now that charges have been presented, before any hearing or trial against the accused to allow for proper defence.

Is there a summary of the outcome of Cressida's trial coming?
Or does the Crown plan on just letting her rot in Yew prison?

Sorry, she has probation for her crimes against Trinsic and is banned from entering the region. She also got a year and day for her crimes against the Crown.

OOC: She'll be out in a month or so. I have decided that since UO has many days per real life day, it makes sense to shorter the year to something like a month or two.

That makes sense, at least to me.

Everyone views time in UO differently. There are "supposed" to be 7 day/night cycles in UO for each 1 RL day. Not everyone pays attention to this, however. It can lead to certain battles or even certain conversations going on for a couple of days, when it's not really terribly realistic.

It also means that our characters are REALLY old. And how many of us age our character at all? Many people who have been playing for 8+ years still have their characters as the same age as when they started.

So what usually happens is that people who see time differently just come to an accommodation between themselves.

For example, I usually take 1 RL day as 1 UO day. Joylah's player usually does the 1 to 7 ratio.

So when I refer to a period of time in a post or something, I'll either be vague, or I'll split the difference. For example, after 1 RL year I started referring to Joy and Galen having been together "for several years" or something like that. Now I often just refer to them as a "long-married couple," because going by the 1 to 7 ratio it'd be somewhere in the 15 to 20 year range, and even splitting the difference puts it at about 10 years.

I'd advise you all to do the same. ("I've been in jail for a long time." "How long have you been in jail?" "Too long.")

More specifically Cressida was found guilty of 4 counts of assult with intent to do bodily harm, 1 count of unlawful flight. She was found innocent on the charges of 1 count of Unlawful use of magic, and innocent on 1 count of risking a catastrophe. Sentance was 1 year in Yew Prison.

She accepted a plea bargain on the charges against her from the Territory of Trinsic. She plead guilty to one count of assulting an officer of Trinsic (specifically Governor Ironhorse). All other charges from Trinsic were dropped. As a term of her plea agreement she was banished from the Territory of Trinsic and ordered never to return.

Re: The Crown and the City of Trinsic vs. Cressida

OOC: The writer of Babylon 5 used to joke when asked how fast the starfuries moved that they "moved at the speed of plot." I think of time like that in game. It moves at the speed of plot. As long as people don't go to crazy with this, I think the best practice is to play it according to the situation.
