Question What do you like best about the crafting system

What do you like best about the crafting system in LOTRO? I understand you pick a profession and it includes 3 attributes. Which are your favorite and most profitable?

Re: What do you like best about the crafting system

To be honest the crafting system here really needs work. Its okay but its really nothing to write home abit, Lotro strengths are elsewhere.

For profit, pick an explorer. You get tailoring, forestry, and prospecting. With forestry and prospecting, you can collect hides, ore, and wood. You can sell them 'raw' or treat them and sell them. Tailoring makes light and medium armor, and everyone uses cloaks too.

Re: What do you like best about the crafting system

I have tailoring,so have the 3 professions Adri mentions.

I like the fact I get a variety of things to craft,so can chop and change depending on my mood.

I also like the fact I can be in game but in a more relaxed way while I craft,if I dont feel up to running about.

It does have a ways to go but its also very profitable to me presently.

*edit*

Oh I like the fact I have to do quests also to get higher.

Re: What do you like best about the crafting system

LOTRO's crafting system isn't perfect, but it's WAY better that WoW's. At least in LOTRO, the items that you can craft are useable if you keep your crafting developing along with your levels. In fact some of the better items in the game are crafted.

High end armorers can turn a nice profit. Avoid farming and cooking as they are quite expensive to develop.

Explorer for just pure money making, since its just running around collecting and then selling after refined.

LOTRO crafting system will become VERY intressting after expansion.. *imagines his epic lute*

Re: What do you like best about the crafting system

I think one of the things that I like about the crafting system as it is now, is that no one character can do everything. You are forced then to interact and trade with others in order to advance (especially) your "third" crafting skills.

For example, every profession has 2 main crafting skills - one resource gathering for the main skill (examples = jewelry + prospecting, or tailor + forester, or weaponsmith + prospecting, or cooking + farming, and so on)

If you want to then train your 3rd, you need to rely on others to support that with providing your materials. That makes it somewhat interesting, and if you're smart with your 5 char slots, you can then streamline your crafting and resource abilities ;) . Otherwise, AH it is!
