Interesting ty again Maddux

I'm gonna download the trial this evening.

What would be a good character to start with? A crafter? Would this be an easy way to figure out the flow of the game?

Probably a hunter. All characters craft. No such thing in Lotro as a mule.

I'd say minstrel for easy groups..

Minstrel is dependent upon a group, hunter is a good solid play alone/group class.

there are so many hunters that sometimes they won't let you join a group, no minstrel has ever had this problem...
