Hmm... in my own opinion I find any type of online love affair pretty stupid. I just can't see the point in it... unless its for RP purposes. The ones that actually try to relate to eachother in real life are even worse, it's inevitably gonna lead to a problematic scenario and after all, online games arn't really meant for that.

As has been previously said, this is the very bring that puts me off the WoW community. Its full of MMOers that wern't in the old days of UO,EQ, early SWG, but now that a simple - easy to the eye MMO has come out they find it easy to implement their entire lifes on it, including in this case, relationships.

Anyways, obviously I dont mean to offend anyone on the forums and I want to stress that I realise there are some exceptions, but without trying to generlise, the majority of these type of people seem pretty damn sad to me and I think you've gotta get to a point where you learn how to distinguish elements of your real life and elements of your virtual life.

I met the Canuck through UO and we were best of friends & engaged. He lived here on and off for 5 years. I think our relationship might be different then a lot of online relationships, since... we actually met & lived with each other

To an extent, you're correct, Gringo. However, one must also take into consideration when looking for a relationship we want to be with someone we share similar interests with, are compatible, and can cooperate together to perform everything from mundane tasks to extremely difficult ones...All points extremely viable from an MMO perspective as well. In a virtual world, as with telepersonals, online dating sites, etc, you are free from the immediate physical aspects to find out if someone is intellectually stimulating, and you can actually put up with them for a while...if so, then it could become a natural progression to meet and see if it's something that carries over from a virtual world to everyday life. Some of the best and happiest couples I know met via internet...and some of the most miserable did as well...It's a tossup and a crapshoot just like meeting someone at the grocery store or a bar. I fail to see the difference in scenarios nor why it should matter.

This has nothing to do with WOW. This is just the fact that online communities are growing and people are hooking up more online. Its nothing to do with the games at all.
