The event was great. We worked hard to find Hef. He is still lost and hidden by the pirates.
However--Please keep in mind that this is RP and not PVP. Please make sure there is RP along with the killing.

Here is part of the RP constitution:
Staying in Character

All RP members are required to stay in character at ALL times. This means no speach that refers to out-of-game-events such as sports, news, weather etc. No abbreviations should be used. No discussion of in-game mechanics is allowed (40 str points, plus 10 AR...etc.).

Members should not break character under any circumstance, no matter how angered they are. They should not spew out curse words in spams at other parties.


If you can see that a highlighted member is not fighting back or not at the keyboard. Please cease the attack immediately.

Please make every effort to give every death a story and meaning behind it.

We are all still learning and learning together is fun. We make mistakes, learn from them and continue forward.

You guys rocked and we will find our beloved Hef. I can only pray to TORM that they are not beating him too severly until we find his location.

Several Questions:
- How can paladins arrest pirates?
- How can pirates kidnap citizens?
- How do we make sure the BANK is safe?
- KOS is KOS... will we still interact or jump into the fray?

There were issues last evening when some attempted to RP and were told (not politely) to shut up and were attacked. Perhaps we need to come to some agreement about what exactly KOS means?

First question:
Paladin: "You are under arrest"
Pirate (not outnumbered): No, I'm not!

Fight ensues, when the paladin wins, he THEN arrests the loser.

Scenario 2:
Paladin: You are under arrest!
Pirate (outnumbered): OK.

Anything less (besides running) would be silly and out of character for most of the pirates I've met.

Paladin: You are under arrest
Pirate: No, and not only am I not under arrest, but you are outnumbered thanks to my cleverly placed TRAP!

Question #2:
That's a big problem with RP in general. The bad guys can only kidnap the willing. What we need to do is find the willing, perhaps creating another side to the story, "The town of Haven". Then we can include people who are willing to role play, even given the risks of death to their crafters/non combatants. And not willing to do it half way, we should make the new guild as complete a town as possible. That's the long way out, but better in the long term.

The short way out is to "hire" actors to get kidnapped. But that won't bring in the long term interest that we really need.

Question #3:
Option 1: No banking in Haven, then leave the bank unsafe to participants.
Option 2: No fighting within a certain distance of the bank.

I prefer option 1, as option 2 will have people complaining about the "bank runners" the same way that people complain about house and gate hiders, even if there is no problem.

Question #4:
Interaction is required except in the case of an ambush or a planned battle. Even if someone is "KOS", paladins should first make an arrest attempt and pirates should taunt the paladins a second time. It doesn't need to be long, it just needs to be there.

(Another side story, as an evil guild, we planned on ambushing a good guild once upon a time. There was no interaction, as it was an ambush. The thing that we didn't know was that the ENTIRE good guild lost connection as they walked through their gate. We just killed them too quickly. Consequently, they weren't happy about being killed while under lost connection and gave us all murder counts (we didn't play that highlighting thing back then). It was still a well played ambush, and the good guys had to admit that after the fact.)

Anyway, those are just my thoughts.

I liked a lot of what you had to say Farsight....The only thing I tend not to agree with is the bank situation. I think the bank is off limits. This gives us a clear cut point where anybody can say, "I have had enough". It also gives up a spot to put the Blue Cross healers where they are part of the action and still in a spot where they are not to be attacked. Since, they are also highlighted to the evil ones....it is possible for a legit mistake to happen and not realize they are attacking the wrong guild.
I loved the KOS and arresting situations. Right on the money
