I was happily playing UO on my laptop before KR was announced. Not being able to run it on the laptop, I bought a new, snazzy big desktop PC. Never did get KR downloaded because of problems with the new, snazzy big desktop PC, which I wound up having to rebuild so now it is truly a snazzy big desktop PC.

Anyway - what do you think of Kingdom Reborn? Have the bugs reported early on been fixed? I've heard the next update isn't coming out until 80% of the UO users are using KR.

EAMythic has patched KR many times, though it has been awhile since there has been a patch.

your 80% number you are confused on also. EAMythic stated that they would not turn the 2D client off until 90% of the playing based switched to using KR at all times.

Personally while I was using the KR client, I found many bugs which I reported. It was getting better, I was getting use to it. Not saying I liked it, but if I had to switch, I wanted to try and get familiar with it. Then about 6-7 months ago, KR stopped patching for me. I have downloaded the entire client about 6 more times, it has been corrupted each time. I have used ever free download manager I could find.

If EAMythic can not be bothered to set up a decent download. I am done trying to help them get KR working. And I will be staying with the stable 2D client. Because honestly I have never need great graphics, just great gameplay. If I wanted better graphics, I would have gone to a newer game years ago.

But try it for yourself, you might like it.

Is the KR CD still available? Maybe it is a better download.

I am also curious to know when Stygian Abyss is coming out.

KR cd, I would not buy. Why? because there has been at least 2GBs of patches since its release and supposably EAMythic is redoing the CD to include these recent patches so you might want to wait.

Stygian Abyss has been delayed indefinitly, all mention of it was removed about a year ago. Too many problems with KR. Since Stygian Abyss was to be accessed by people playing the KR client only. no one knows exactly what is going on with SA.

He, he, he .... so, I downloaded KR and now I'm trying to extract the files so I can install it. What a nightmare! Besides stopping, failing, going, stopping, failing, it says there are 47,000 days and so many hours to finish extracting files. Then, suddenly, it has stopped again. It is done? Or did it fail ... again? I shall see.

Ok - it extracted and installed, now it is patching. Been patching for about an hour now and doesn't look like it will be done anytime soon. But, that is what I thought about the extraction/installation process. This is a half day type project at least.

Got on tonight in KR. It looks really good. There are some places in my house I'll have to fix - roof top items showing on the ceiling of the 3rd floor - but the fountain looks awesome.

Robert Pen Dragon helped me with using chat, guild chat and alliance chat, plus showed me some of the creatures. The ogre and troll look very different and very cool in KR. My Hazel avatar looks very different too - much better.

I can already see there is much to like in KR - like the graphics. However, it is going to take some time to figure out how to set up everything and get used to the way things are done.

I recently patched KR for the first time in about 4 months or so after not using it to check up on it's progress and when I loaded it up, it crashed my comp. (This is the first time it's ever done so since I got it 2 years ago at tax season. I have 2 processors and it was top of the line at the time I bought it) I really wanted to see how it was coming along, but I'm leery about trying it again for fear it will hurt my computer. Aby ideas? I can post my specs if you want, but they are more than minimum reqirements I'm sure...

I've been fighting penuemonia, bronchitis and an upper respiratory infection all week so I haven't been able to play much this week. I've decided I like KR though. I'll have to play it a bunch to get used to it but it isn't like I don't play this game a bunch anyway. The grapics are better.

MacKenzie, not sure about your comp's specs. I bought high end stuff just because when buying new I try to get the best I can. Then I installed a better graphics card, a higher power supply and another fan. Supposedly KR was designed to play on lower end computers. I think they might want to redefine what they mean by lower end computers.

I just backed up all my important stuff on a portable USB drive, created a restore point, then downloaded and installed KR. If there were unresolveable issues, I'd have just restored back to previous download condition. If there were residual problems that didn't cure, I'd have rebuilt my hard drive and reinstalled everything - for that nice new pc feel.

Well, I wondered where you had been, I missed you. I hope you are feeling better and continue to improve.

Also, Sparky had some complications from his recent surgery and was in the hospital all last week. Feeling much better, he says.
