[an epic event of two huge battles where I was down to 5 fps for most of the time]

Part One

The war drums were beating hard.

The tyrants were talking to the taskmasters.

The free peoples planned to fight a mighty battle on the flat lands south of Tirith Rhaw - they would make their last stand there flanked by the woods.

The wargs were restless and the Uruks listened as thier leaders gave them the order to move out and march to Tirith Rhaw.

Things were set for a confrontation and a mighty battle of epic proportions. Both good and evil were moving towards a cataclysm but they hadnt realised this yet.



An Uruk Officer made this crude map of the positions of the opposing armies just before the battle.



The two opposing armies line up the fog of war is thick upon this scene. Maye Gandalf himself has sent aid to the Free Peoples?



The free peoples gather their forces as the dark clouds amass above them - dark or light who will triumph?



The troops get restless on both sides and minor skirmishes break out. The commanders of both armies rally and shout at their troops.

[ooc - fabulous intense battles between 8 and 9pm uk time last night. Major thanks to the Free Peoples for making such a brave stand in the face of such an onslaught and thank you for all the heals and covering my back whilst I am off playing photo-journalist/war correspondant. The monsters finally broke ranks and charged across the open space towards the free peoples bravely formed themselves into a tight shield wall faced by a huge troll and almost certain death and the scavenging wargs and black arrows with their deadly long bows.



The very ground shook as the opposing armies met headlong and the crash of steel on steel and claw on armour could be heard at the very base of Mount Gramsfoot



The fight was brutal. The huge troll clearing all in its path and the free peoples asked for no quarter and none was given. They fought on the spot and made a heroic stand in the face of a well organised and mighty foe.

In close it became personal - grudges were settled, old scores evened out as the superior numbers of the Army of Darkness gradually began to take the day. The free peoples began to fall.



It seemed as if the very tides of the oceans were helping the Army of Darkness overwhelm the free peoples as they fell. They stood and fought bravely with no choice but to make a last stand.



It became clear that the free peoples had no chance as the blood ran from their many wounds.



A lost cause.

The last few surviving free peoples made an attempt to fall back and reform using the few of them left standing but it was to no avail.

They had been routed and the ravaging pack of uruks and wargs chased down and killed the last few free peoples with merciless efficiency until the ground at last stopped shaking and the battlefield cleared and all became still.

A few minutes later a single bird began to sing in the trees overlooking the battlefield and the sun broke from behind a cloud and the Ettenmoors were again, briefly, at peace once more.

Was an excellent scrap was too busy healing and yelling to take any pics but really enjoyed meself.
