Magincia Torched: Written by Greyylene
Magincia Torched (Written by Greyylene) “All Hands! BATTLE STATIONS!!” “Put ye’r backs into it me boys, we gots a Long way to go and No time to get there. Heave To!” “Magincia EeeHa!” The orders flew around the deck as mates scrambled to carry them out as franticly as they were given. In the excitement and flurry the bloodlust grew intense spurring on actions not before believed possible. The surf crested high off the bow as we cut threw open waters towards Magincia. As we closed in we could hear, even over our own ruckus, the fever pitch of the clash. Screams, explosions, metal against metal, and the low rumblings of large beasts in great number spurred us into a panicked pace to get to the Island. The sights that greeted us were gruesome at best. The once beautiful lush jungle was now charred and in flames. Imps that seemed to be generating their own torched skin guarded the perimeter making any landing tricky at best. Our assignment was to guard the North West border of the Island. We closed in imps surrounded the CAROLINE threatening to turn her into a floating cinder charring the hull and torching the sails. We could only get in close enough to drop a small contingent force to assess the situation and battle the horde. The rest of the crew took CAROLINE back out to sea to make repairs and extinguish the fires. There was not to be any creeping quietly inland this time. We rode in quiet but ready to battle, arrows locked and ready to fly. Stepping over fallen bodies became something of an impossible hazard. Even dead these foul beasts continued to burn. I heard a painful moan and looked to see the Admiral Roland pinned beneath one of the beasts. Dragging his body I could see the problem, but to fix it would become a bit more of a challenge. To open the wounds to air would cause them to burst into flame, burning his body alive. “Hold on, Admiral, trust me.” As I held him in my arms, one of my other crew braced to quickly remove his armor so I could douse his wounds with a healing salve. “On the count of three. One, Two, Three!” We moved quickly in a synchronized panic trying to be gentle but having to be rough. The flames did not take him and he was able to be healed but the singes on my own cloak will not let me soon forget our immense danger. Taking the Admiral back to the healers proved to be more of a challenge than what was first expected. We ran into the Commodore who barely recognized us for the fire and bloodlust in his eyes. I ducked fast as he let fly an arrow aimed right for where we stood. I was dumfounded that he would do such a thing, until I realized it was aimed at the chaos demon that had appeared behind me. Although he still did not see us, I thanked him anyway and continued on to the healers. On my way returning to my assigned post I heard a soft low whistling, a rather merry tune indeed, and a bit more than out of place in all this disaster and devastation. As I rounded the corner of a building a rather funny sight caught my eye. The Mayor Winfield was “fishing for demons” and doing a rather good job of succeeding. *Zing* would go his hook with a *thud* and bellowing holler from the unwitting prey followed with the magic words *Cor Por* that would bring the surprised victim to its knees and in the final glance at the jolly fisherman it would meet its demise with one more hearty *Cor Por*. I could not help myself but laugh at this comical display set before me. “Mayor Winfield, what ever are you doing?” “Well, my dear Greyylene, I am, as you see, fishing.” “Yes, sir, that you are indeed. Might I inquire as to what exactly you are trying to catch?” “Well it seems the fish are not biting so well right now, and these ghastly creatures are continuously in the way. This used to be such lovely fishing.” With that he let loose the hook straight over my shoulder, its singing zip whistled past my ear as it landed into the hide of yet another chaos demon. I spun and let fly an arrow that dropped the beast in one hit. “It seems you do well at catching demons, I must say. I will leave you to your fishing, I have my crew to find.” “Ah yes very good then, carry on.” He said with a bow. Shaking my head and chuckling to myself at the sight I had just witnessed I inched my way back to our assigned post only to find the scene quiet and smoldering. Apparently the onslaught was in a lull. Suddenly from all around burst a flaming torrent of imps, demons, fire balls, walls of flame and smoldering ash. I was trapped in the middle with little to no way out. Spurring my trusty mount in the direction we needed to be, I loaded the bow closed my eyes and ran screaming like a frenzied hellion firing and hitting targets I never saw. In the wake of my escape the destruction that was left had others of my crew standing dumbfounded at how anyone came out alive. Scratched from burnt branches, singed hair and coughing from smoke I emerged to recollect band aids, more bolts for my quiver and dose another layer of flame retardant ointment over vital areas. Ready to battle again my crew and I plowed through the heavy mass of unholy bodies invading a town we, for duty’s sake, we came to defend ~The End~ ![]() ![]() "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist"
