Militia Structure and Promotions Information


The Vesper Militia has its foundings many years ago - first formed as the "Free Vesper Militia", a rebel movement founded by the long dead Justicar Sagonari in response to the conquest of Vesper by the royal noble Xel'Naga - a movement which forced out the Royal guards and replaced them with native Vesparians later becoming known simply as the Vesper Militia as a sign of both its accomplishment and the since near-unbreakable status of Vesper as a city independant of the crown.

The modern day Vesper Militia is still a relatively loose organisation when compared with other forces around Britannia; none the less they do have their own small forms of organisation along with means of climbing the ladder to the top - and such things are listed here. The Militia's ranks are streamlined into one smooth chain of command; regardless of whether its members are warriors, arcanists or anything else.




Promotion Requirements to reach Firebrand
  • Been a Partisan of the Militia for at least two weeks
  • Been active for those two weeks
  • Filled out their application in the Join the Militia thread
  • Have an active ICQ number for contact
  • Completed at least one good-quality report on a Militia activity
  • Created a profile on the achievments board




Promotion Requirements to reach Comrade
  • Been a Firebrand of the Militia for at least one month
  • Been active for a fair portion of that month
  • Hosted at least one event
  • Completed a further two good-quality reports on a Militia activity




Promotion Requirements to reach Liberator
  • Been a Comrade of the Militia for at least two months
  • Been active for a fair portion of those two months
  • Shown good quality fighting ability
  • Have carried on making good quality reports of Militia activities
  • Led or co-led a noteworthy roleplaying or combat event (raids dont count, tournaments or battle royales might)
  • Gained the consent of either an existing Liberator or Captain to become a new Liberator.




Promotion Requirements to reach Champion
  • Been a Liberator of the Republic's forces for at least two months
  • Been noticably active for a fair portion of those two months
  • Gained the approval of both the Militia Captain and the Vesparian Baron
  • Have support of at least four other Miltiamen who are at least Comrades
  • Led or co-led a noteworthy roleplaying or combat event




Life Beyond the Champions of the Militia

There are further honors in the Militia than being one of its ringleaders and greatest assets. Some Champions may rise further to become the Captain of the Militia one day given they form enough events and activities for the Militia. There is also the Baronial Guard to consider; these bodyguards to the man who rules Vesper are picked only from the Champions to safeguard his life, and in that to safeguard the wellbeing of Vesper's democracy.

Demotions and Discipline

There will always come times where someones actions in the Militia have been too far out of step with what is asked of a soldier in their duty. Demotions depend massively on what the Militiaman has done. Constant small errors will at the very least stop a Militiaman from getting his promotion, but larger problems may mean demotion for a Militiaman. Incidents such as fraternising with the enemy, failure to follow important orders and whatnot are examples of what can get a Militiaman an instant demotion.

Faster Promotions

Militiamen who perform exceptionally however, are liable to be fast-tracked for promotion in the Militia. Examples of such include garnering more support and recruits for the Republics cause, hosting a string of well attended and interesting events, and making a great individual achievement that benefits the Republic.

Baronial Guards are intended to be our sort of quasi-Knight people - as close as we're going to get as a Militia / Guard force. Gotta work ya way up the Militia for it though. Two of them at a maximum (a.k.a our two mounted men in a fight situation) where activity, template and PvP ability requirements apply.

Can buzz me on ICQ for more details about it, but your not going to become a Baronial Guard unless you are a Swords based warrior template who has a great liking for Halberds while mounted. No mages, other melee skills, archers etc for Baronial Guards.
