The ONN interviewed Benito owner of the Drunken Friar Bewery on 1/17/08. The Drunk Friar Brewery is located in the northern area of PaxOku City. The Brewery is not new but to some who didnt know it was up there may think it is new. I met early with Benito around Four am this morning.



- Why was the Drunken Friar Brewery built in PaxOku City?

Benito- Because there was open land here of course...more to the point, I have known people in the Pax community for a few years and I was specifically looking for an area to build where I could contribute to that same community.

- This this place a Tavern and Brewery?

Benito- Yes

-When is it open?

Benito- Shawn upstairs keeps us in stock with drinks and I hunt around sosaria for the rarer beverages. There are no set hours as of yet as you can see by the state of this room. I am not quiet happy with the look of the place.

- Your not going to be like Mayor Gareth and rebuild it five times a week are you?

Benito- Oh no. I aim for at least eight. No, once I am happy with the design i will leave it be, maybe minor design shifts, but no major rebuilding.

- So since it is the Drunken Friar Brewery some may not know what a Friar is. Can you tell us?

Benito- In their most basic tasks, a friar is a wandering healer. You could say we are also sort of a priesthood.

-That Drinks?

Benito- Religiously but, instead of worshipping a specific deity or ideal we answer to the call of fermented fruits and grains.

- Are their more Friars out there then you?

Benito- At the moment its back to just myself. At our height we numbered in five.

- Well I know allot of people that worship the ale around here. Maybe they are Friars in hiding? *Smiles*

Benito- Aye, I believe everyone has something of a friar in them and those that dont should. Ale is just the beginning though or maybe cider was the beginning....their are many fine wines and liquors to enjoy as well.

-Do you have any plans for the city since you live here?

Benito- Total domination. utter and complete supremacy over all residents but that is number four on my list. Dont ask about one through three, I forget what they are right now...and i remember number two being painful and requiring a special house or maybe it was something I ate that day... anyway, for the time being my only plans are to have this brewpub up and running this floor is not being very compliant.

- I will follow any drunken Friar in that conquest!

-Do you have any words for the citizens of PaxOku or its Government?

Benito- Drink up, but drink responsibly. Noone needs a hammered mage running around Ebolting squirrels. You might wake up the next day and realise that when you're drunk you'r neighbors look a lot like squirrels and there is just no regaining face from that sort of ordeal.

-Thank you Benito for taking the time to do this.

Benito- I am hoping to have more statues on my roof than Gareth has on his roof though.

- I hear Gareth has fifteen.

Benito- Ah, then it will be a contest of who is willing to be so gaudy as to put up all of those statues. oh, I have been wondering. How did you get up in here?

- I am a reporter need I say more?

While snooping around a certain area where Mayor Gareth is being treated I saw some very odd things. For one Lady Nara was crafting some sort of armor I have never seen before. Some of it was pieces I dont really see being used on the outside of a body. Necromancers could also be heard chanting. I also saw KTL Elders and other working on something. I drew closer to this small hole in the wall and what I saw was most disturbing...from what I could tell the Mayor wasnt looking like the mayor. He was part alive and from what I could tell part dead? Is the Mayor undead? Parts of his body looked like metal as if to keep his insides well... inside I assume. A tailor was also among the group working on the mayor and appeared to be sewing some things together. As I heard movement around me I quickly left the area to not cause trouble.

What is Lady Cat, Nara, The Elders and others doing to Mayor Gareth?

When will we see Mayor Gareth?

Is Mayor Gareth Mayor Gareth?

Has he changed?

Is he still the Gareth we all know? Or is he something else?

PAXOKU, PAXLAIR STATEHOOD -- The evening started as what appeared to be a joyous and fun-filled day celebrating the Tenth Anniversary of PaxLair, but tragedy struck the city of PaxOku as Mula was apparently murdered in the doorframe at the front of the PaxOku Museum of Virtues.

A bolt of lightning and the death scream of Mula could be heard from the top floor of the Museum as revelers celebrated the anniversary at the annual ball.

More speculation was abound since the resurfacing of Gareth and his slow recovery, aided through Winfield's direction. He was seen this evening storming from Gryphon Hall in Malas shortly before the murder of Mula in the location of PaxOku.

It was at Gryphon Hall this evening that Lady Kathleen, Chief Justice of the PaxLair Statehood, heard testimony from Gareth himself. He seemed from several observers in the room to be acting unsual, and they seemed to be considerably nervous after hearing Gareth's forthcoming demand:

"I tnaw siht truoc ot llik alum"

Which was interpreted by the Court as:

"I want this court to kill Mula."


The proceeding conversation in the courtroom was as follows:
Kathleen: If Mula is guilty, the evidence will show that and punishment can be meted out
Gareth: haks!
Kathleen: But I will not see the authority of this court used for blind murder
Gareth: neht!!!!
Kathleen: *passes a parchment to Bailiff NANOC*
Kathleen: This is an order for Mula to appear before the court.
NANOC: *takes parchment*
Gareth: halb!
Kathleen: Despite what you may think of Mula, Mayor Gareth, she is entitled to present her side.
Elias of Arundel: *grumbles*
Gareth: neht ew lliw yortsed reh sevlesruo gnola htiw ukOxaP!
Clearly in his last words in the courtroom, he stated in his delirium: "Then we will destroy her ourselves along with PaxOku!"


Unfortunately there are few leads into the murder. The painting of Mula's corpse was stolen in a late night raid in Yew on the Felucca Facet during the closing event of the PaxLair Tenth Anniversary, however several witnesses did attest to the fact that the body was still there, as warm as it had fallen after the murderous attack.

However, one of the two paintings did survive, one of questioning immediately after the murder:

It was during this questioning of a person by the name of Lewis and Lady CaT, did the details of "many people in the streets" come from Lewis. CaT was in disbelief that Gareth would swear to kill Mula, but as it was stated in his testimony, it was decidedly otherwise.

It is unclear whether the court warrant had received the PaxOku Guards before the murder, for the warrant was handed to the Court Baliff NANOC who was to hand it either to Governor Winfield or the PaxOku Guards. There is evidence that the bailiff did not deliver the warrant as it was heard in the ballroom the bailiff’s words: "Well, I guess I don't need to carry this arrest warrant anymore."

Questioning of citizens on the street during the act of murder is currently being sought by PaxLair Statehood officials.

What clouds the investigation is that in a search of the perimeter, on the east side of town a Ronin was spotted and the search party came under attack. However, a Ronin attack appears unlikely since their mode of attack tends to be one of fireballs and not lightning strikes.

More word on the state of both Gareth and Mula to be released when available. Anyone with information regarding the murder of Mula should come forward and speak to Governor Winfield or post information here.
