I think you should only have the option of say insuring three things, not everything you carry.

They could bring back item bless deeds like the old days but then they just end up in the hands of the rich and so its not a balanced affair.

Quality = Cost here too. Play big, pay big. I likes it. Course, who decides what is valuable? Say, Katrina's crook. Artifact 11, so it should top insurance dollar?
Or quality? Since you can MAKE a better crook with a ash or heartwood runic saw, Katrina's is pretty lame.

Nominally, I also support DiP's idea of breaking POF. Nominally, because my oringal complaint with it was it allowed continous camping of spawns, in a time when good spawns were limited. Since, on most shards, there are so few players left, camped hunting areas are a worry of the past.
On the good side, when it came out, it actually made hunting in Ilshenar possible, given the long haul distances to a bank.

Yeah, the whole "How much Quality = How much Cost" would be left for debate, but I feel something simple that calculates the amount of properties + intensities of each property * artifact # (if it is an artifact, Runic Tool type if not) + enhancement type (if done) wouldn't be too difficult (or "wrong" pricing wise).

Or maybe even put a dividing (or subtraction) factor in if it is a crafted item to make them more appealing to use to give them crafters a little bit of love that was lost when item properties came out.

I voted "other"... Whoa, I guess I'm 2nd here too... hehe...

-My 1st thought was "Don't fix something thats NOT broken"... Leave the Freaking thing allown, you will just cause "contriversy" over the change...

-My 2nd thought was, Ya, if they could come up with a reputable "apraising" system, that takes into account all the variouse properties an item COULD have and all intensities... Then Ya, the Insurance cost should scale to apraised value...

-My 3rd though was, Who does this benefit? I only play in Trammel, so when I die all my Insurance is consumed by the "state".... So, any change would only result in an Increase in Cost to me... Why would I want this change?

In Fellicca, I can only speculate, so Please correct me if I am wrong... I pay 500gp to insur 1 item, correct? I think most consious players only insure their best stuff or they just don't carry it... I'm pretty sure it works on Offensive/Deffensive and NOT Red/Blue oriantations, when Insurance moneys is paid to a player... Example: A attacks B, if B dies A gets nothing, if A dies B gets 50% of the insurance moneys placed up to Insur whatever total items, deposited into their bank, correct?... The other 50% goes to the "state"...

-My 4th and final thought is so crazy... Please, don't laugh... It seems to me the "state" Trammel/Fellucca is gaining quite an income from Insurance funding, So Why don't we have a UO Lottery system....

I'm dead serious, a 6/49 State Lotto... With a seperate Trammel/Fellucca funds... Paid Daily, based on the previouse days Insurance losses by Players... The fund could rollover if NOT won, build to a huge amount... The first thing the server does in the mornings, is pick the numbers for the day.... When you log in, you have a chance to play if you like, just hit the "Lotto" button.... You pick your numbers, and hit "play", it then shows you the "Numbers of the Day"..... Best is 6 for 6, but it should scale down to 3 outa 6, should get a small amount of the Total fund, respectively...

What'a think, Crazy?

I almost voted leave it as it is but had to go for other.

My idea is to remove insurance completely and have everything stay on your ghost when you die. Even when I started way back in 1997 I never thought you should lose your stuff when you die.

To me the 'death penalties' always take some of the fun and relaxation away from games. (it is just a game and should be fun)
