This one is simple how many people think that this game is still as "Booming" as it was 2 or 3 years ago, heck, even 6 years ago?

Re: Hows the game compared to the years before?
It's kinda sad really.
UO lost a lot of the flare it used to have. Eye Candy and Math work to play? (Recolored items & numbers with percentages). Content is missing, the personal attention the old programs gave the game. Change is change, and I really don't see the flare will ever come back.

Re: Hows the game compared to the years before?
i just have 1 question if .uo lost it's flare years ago yet your still here answering questions on uo so it seems it didnt loose all it's flare and still must be somewhat enjoyable.F'NOR this is not directed at you but alot of the post i read talk about how uo sucks not what it use to it's dying so why keep talking about it just move on and play something else.I mean how much bashing can you giveout before it's like enough

Re: Hows the game compared to the years before?
I still maintain 3 accounts. I play occassionally when "new" things come about to see it and keep abreat of what's going on.
I still have a 10 year vested interest in the game. Just because I'm not a super fan these days, don't mean I still don't have hopes for the game. Just cause I'm not playing UO with all my computer time, doesn't mean I can't enjoy it when I do play. I do play other games and I do have a life to enjoy. It's not hard to jump in the game, go see the new recolored stuff and monsters then wait for the next "event".

Re: Hows the game compared to the years before?
Whoa, I guess I'm the 2nd "cheese Man".... hehe....
Yup, I think UO is going down hill fast.... At least for me it is... The entertainment factor is falling fast... I find myself reading/posting more Hours on these forums than, Playing In-game... When I'm done posting, I go play WoW... Why do I keep paying UO? Well, I guess I alway have Hope... 10yr investment maybe... my Houses possibly... Plus, if I didn't pay for my accounts and play alittle, How could I criticise this game... Its kinda like complaining about who's President of the USA, when your not even a registered voter... So, I gota pay my dues... I was always a casual player, Crafter/gatherer type... So lets see if I can sum it up, AoS mortaly wounded Crafting, ML added more Lotteries to an already failing Lottery system... and Now the resource changes, in preperation for SA... UO has brought new meaning to "Rarity... I gota say, "Hope" is whaining fast... Well, I guess there's still my houses... Oh wait, they're pushing KR full steam ahead... and my houses look like POSs... Ya, I heard about "classic" tile sets and making it real "frexable" of a client... Haven't seen what the conversion looks like yet... I was waiting for UOA functionality to be fully implimented in KR first... and now they fired a bunch of guys and moved.... So here I am again, Hoping they do it right... and waiting to see when it will happen.... Last edited by UOGuy...; 2nd November 2007 at 11:14 PM. |

Re: Hows the game compared to the years before?
Even tho I havent played in months I selected the first option! I agree with everyone and I do still find UO addictive yet less fun (which wasnt an option). I dont like many of the changes they have made but then I do like some of them. The one thing I miss the most about UO is the community. It just isnt there anymore. I get far more interaction with a larger group here on the forums then I have in game in the last year or so. Dont get me wrong I still feel strongly connected to those I have played with especially the UO"F'ers. But I mainly feel bored 90% of my in-game time. After all just how many cu's can you tame looking for that blaze before it drives you mad? I for one can tell you its in the thousands. I have always played online games to "escape" from the stress of RL! If I have to think about rl cause I'm bored then its no "escape" and therefore tiem to move on. As F'nor says after many years there is still hope although waning and yes I like to see the new stuff come out. However I dont have the 10 yr old acct thats worth continuosly paying to keep up when I have no desire to be bored. Hopefully my time on these boards and my opinions and little knowledge is helpful, thought provoking, or even therapeutic to someone as many of the posts/replies are to me!

Re: Hows the game compared to the years before?
/agrees with Merth and UOGuy
I'm the other cheeser ![]() Speaking from personal opinion. UO seems to have lost a lot the last year. Game mechanics alone have been screwed, the "PvP balancing", the failed storylines (wasn't the whole Inu plot intriguing at first, then as time wore on and KR came about it was a bunch of crap, seriously, look back at it now and see what it was, in game marketing), and the grasping at trying to appease the playerbase (just fix the game and do with it as you please, screw the players wants and wishes because it's not worth trying to achieve, let the game speak for itself instead of pleading to the "gimmie gimmie" crowd) has lead everything down the wrong path.

Re: Hows the game compared to the years before?
Anytime anyone starts on about missing the old days I recall vividly getting PKed for the bazillionth time, either not having a house at all or having one that just got robbed of everything in it or placing a chest with a small fortune's worth of reagents in it and having it decay unexpectedly, getting robbed of all my measly 100k starting gold my first day while standing at the bank trying to figure everything out, getting tricked into looking like I was attacking someone so they could call the guards and get me killed, forever NOT being able to log into the game because the servers were down.. again.. logging in again and finding out that the house I finaaly and triumphantly managed to place in the new Trammel did not "take" because the servers reset and it was undone, etc...
NO. I don't miss the old days AT ALL! |

Re: Hows the game compared to the years before?
I would say UO is still an addicting game. It has turned into more colecting of items and showing off ones uber bling suit than the actual community. Don't get me wrong the bank sitting blingers have always been around. But when you have to find a full 70's suit to completely enjoy killing monsters sonthing is definately wrong. Back in my day a suit of platemail ran about 5k and a suit of chain (which was the preferred) was about 2k. I worked my blacksmith for months with the limited time I had to play to get him to grandmaster blacksmithing so I could make my own suits and weapons. I enjoyed this for maby a year. (which was a year I rarely played) When I came back to play full time AoS had came out and killed the crafting of weapons and armor. So I left again... Only to come back four years later because of the never ending nagging of UO from somewhere deep in my brain. And yes this game is still addicting. Maby not as fun and community driven but none the less extremely addictive and fun. there really isnt much EA can do to improve this game but to rollover to older versions which would make a lot of newer players mad anyway. I think the best thing for UO right now is to concentrate on the new expansion and work around the mistakes already made. I hope they make this next one fun.
