I have
120 taming 120 lore 120 vet 115 med 115 eval 115 magery The rest of my points are in resist until I get 120 scrolls for everything  At a champ spawn, I very rarely run out of mana. Usually I cast EVs or chain lightning, sometimes earthquake, until the spawn level gets too high. Then I will run out of the spawn area, summon my pet, and take it back in for more. Or if I am hunting with a group and don't want to use my pet, I can just use plain magery and still stand on my own. It just depends on what you want to use your tamer for, I suppose, and how comfortable you feel with whatever playstyle.

What is wrong with what you have now? Sound good to me and as you say " you can stand on your own" I would keep what I have. .
