Ugh, is it just me or does work get in the way of a guys gaming schedule Grrrrr!!!

I've been on 9 and 10 hour days for the past 3 weeks and they won't say firm on what they want us working at my job. I mean for god sake if you're going to give the overtime then give it don't !!!!! foot with it so it screws everyone's sleeping habits and personal time at home up. Not to mention they've been having us work Saturdays the last 3 weeks cause they need the production.......But the whole reason we're working 9 and 10 hour shifts is so we don't have to work Saturdays.....anyone else seeing a problem with the picture? lol

Now see the whole problem is, the need numbers off the machine...which we are getting, but like 60% of the parts coming off the machine are rejects, parts that we can't pass on to the customer.

Can the machine be fixed? YES! will it be fixed....NO!, cause fixing it would require to much down time (Downtime being lingo for factories of time when no production is happening on the machine for those that don't know that). So what do they do instead of doing a for sure fix? They are basically putting a bandaid brand bandage on a gunshot wound O.o . What does this do, it fixes one problem but only for a short amount of time, in my point of view I think it would be easier to take it down for 1-3 hours to do a fix that will stick then to do a temp fix where the machine will be going down every hour for 10-20 minutes at a time.

But then again UGH *throws up arms in disbelief* Fixing something would just make to much DAMN sense!

So on top of all the down time we're having now we have to leave the machine and go mop for 1/2 an hour per week........each employee has to do this, which means depending on the area...take mine for example, 3 people work in it, so in 1 week that's 1 1/2 hours down time.....on top of that they want us to take 1 hour a week and do TPM's (Total Production Maintenance) basically meaning we go to an area and clean it and if we find any problems we tag it to be fixed. There's 1 more hour of down time per week.....

Now get this, they b**ch at us when we don't get our numbers for the week....well no S**t Shurlock, you've got us doing things they SHOULD have a janitorial crew for!

Well in short I have to work 10 hours a day and saturday just so they can get their numbers which we still aren't getting cause of downtime and temp fixes...which basically equals no real game time or RL time for me as of lately, I get a few hours a week in game and get to spend a little bit of time with the GF and her kids, I just want to....to.......AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...............

Ugh, Ok I think I feel better now, thanks for reading, or at least clicking on the post and pretending you care, I just wanted to get that out of my system . Welp 7:30pm now, have to head to work, see you all around 7:30am when I get off....I live 30 minutes from where I work btw so 10 hours for me since I like to get there 30 minutes early is pretty much 12 hours total out of my day lol

Work gets in the way of almost everyone's gaming schedule... Sounds like management has some definite issues where you work

It would be too much for them to have a team dedicated to mop and do TPM's .... naw, that would make too much sense. I can picture management there kinda like Homer Simpson...always on his behind eating donuts and letting everyone else do the work for them.

Sucks, yeah for sure, I know the feeling all to well after the day I put in at the office today.... but this isn't my rant it's yours

Sorry things are going so poorly. I hate it when a company wastes man hours and then complain about it. Hope things get better soon for you. Not just for game time (though that is important) but for an overall good feeling a guy should have at the end of the day.

Sounds like the military..... They expect you to work all this extra time, with no rhyme or reason as to why. Do the work with half the resources, and with most of the equipment broken...

Well tonight didn't go any better then last night, machine ran like crap, only got 407 parts off of it with 21 of them being rejects...least that's what the inspector caught anyway who knows how many she let slip by her cause she was in a bad mood so I'm guessing she only caught the obvious ones and just wizzed past all the other parts.

I was the machine operator AGAIN tonight, my hands are sore as hell. Why are my hands sore? Well you see with the part that I bill it requires brackets it hold it together and well I'm the only person that doesn't use the rubber mallet that they provide cause it takes to much time to use it. They provide a padded glove as well but they don't have one that fits me cause I'm in between the XL and L size gloves which they don't make another size in between so it's just uncomfortable for me to wear either one. So that basically leave me striking them with the palm of my hands, wearing nothing other then my pair of gloves that are more to make sure the oil from the skin doesn't get on the parts to cause rust and all that good stuff.

Now with me, I'm the best operator they have, speed wise and in general for the most part. I have the fastest time on the machine and I've pulled the most parts off the machine in a 8 hour and 10 hour shift than anyone else. SO right now it running like it is, is just pissing me off cause I know if the machine was running the way it was suppose to I could get way more production off of it.

It's just really stressful to say the least when I know I have the ability I just don't have the resources. Even now I'm getting the most numbers off of it then anyone else even with it running like crap. I'm pulling 400ish off of the machine with 2 hours down time a night as opposed the other shifts having the same or less down time and only getting around 350-380.

I guess all in all I would just like a little more respect, cause right now I feel they are taking me for granite and what happens when you take things for granite?....*starts looking for another job* lol.

could be worse. you could be in the desert like me, and have no life for 12 months... hehe.. gotta try to find the positives in this.

When its all said and done, you will of made some more money than usual, hopefully have some extra time, and maybe, just maybe, your supervisors will have noticed that you stepped up to the plate, and shined as their top worker. They do indeed notice these things.

Well now they have me scheduled all weekend, it's really hard to look at a bright side when you feel like !!!! cause of Asthma and allergies, on top of that I think I'm developing tennis elbo from this damn job with my hands already hurting. When you feel like you're on a downward spiral in your mind there are no bright sides...See the problem is there's a history of Manic Depression that runs in my family, I try my best not to let things get to me but with the history of problems with my family it's bound to get to me eventually. I'm one of those people I HAVE to have my alone time and my personal time with family things just start to get to me easier.

Anyway I'm off to work......

Yeah that's the problem with me, anything I do, I strive to be the best, and if I am the best I get competitive with myself always trying to beat my own best.
