If you've never fished before, try moving to low level waters and attaching a lure (shiney bauble) to your pole.

Think I got fishing to 30 (natural) and I use baubles.

Still can't get those blasted fish to stick!

Dip go back to newb training area and fish there. Train fishing upto about 50 there...shouldnt take very long from 30 and you dont need baubles. Then a little secret I found which prolly isnt much of a secret.....fish in the water right by bank in Darnassus....I took fishing all the way to 115 there. I moved on to another zone because I wanted to catch fish with better feed effect for my pet so I dont know how high you can get in Darnassus. the real beauty of fishing there is you stay in a rested state as if you were in an inn so you gain the exp bonus while your fishing. Another tip for hunters is put your pet in stable while your fishing or he/she will become unhappy quickly through inactivity (only do this if you are in protected area and dont need him/her to watch your back)! Also there is the mailbox right next to bank to send your fish in
