It was a busy day for the Militia, problems with Cove had already taken place and the prisoners from the encounter were being dealt with. While these events were occuring, Escaflowne was preparing for the 'Survival of the Fittest' tournament which was to take place later on in the evening; but while he was carrying this task out, he was requested at the Barons office by the Baron Samsca himself.



When Escaflowne arrived and was seated, Baron Samsca placed a large tome onto the desk containing records of Escaflowne's history within Vesper. Samsca began to talk of the promotion to Militia Champion that he had offered Escaflowne in the earlier weeks.



To Escaflowne's suprise, Baron Samsca spoke of the Great Hanse Davions retirement from the Militia Captains position. Hanse Davion was one of the greatest captains Vesper had ever seen in its long years, he was a huge reason to why Vesper flourished in its time. He lead the militia to countless of victories and trained the men to become fierce fighters on the battlefield; he is a truely magnificent leader and a great Man in himself who Escaflowne and many others were proud to server under. After all the things he had accomplished, he deserved this well earned break. But his time serving in the Vesper Militia is not over, as he has only retired to Militia Champion, where his leadership and skills will still be used to they're best in the years to come.
But the rank of captain still needed to be filled Baron Samsca explained to Escaflowne.



The position of Captain was then offered to Escaflowne by Lord Samsca, The Baron of Vesper to which Escaflowne seemed thoughtful of the offer. It was a big step and a tough decision to make, so Samsca offered Escaflowne time to think it over; leading Esca to the corner of the Swaggers, mulling it over a fine bottle of wine.



After alot of deep thought, the Baron and Esca met up again some time later to continue their discussion. Escaflowne has always been loyal to Vesper along with the Militia, and it is his duty to serve it as best he can. So what better way to serve to the best of his ability than take the challange of becoming Captain of the Militia he thought to himself. The offer was accepted and the badges given, Escaflowne left the office the new Captain of the Militia and Hanse became the first Militia Champion of Vesper.

Hanse grunted and wiped the sweat off his forehead, looking around at the arena he was still slowly building. It'd be a fine thing, when properly polished and done up he thought. Much like his successor, Escaflowne. Standing there, he pondered the decision. Other men in the Militia were more violent, others more powerful, others more cunning. Yet they all lacked the same quality that Escaflowne lacked in some way. He couldn't place his finger on it. Perhaps it was just the hat, but Hanse had more or less narrowed it down to something between loyalty and trustworthiness to the Republic.

The bear man's got alot to learn, he thought to himself, but I guess he'll do awright. Especially since I'm still gonna be there as 'is right hand man in the form of a Champion. The torch of leading the Republic's forces into battle passes onto another younger, more enthusiastic man I guess. Hell am I retirin' though. Still young 'nuff to show them Covians what for.
