So Klion D’Gar wanted to rid the Old Lands of the cut-throats, brigands and murderers. This would be worth recording and I would be able to sell the tale to Klion perhaps and maybe pick up some genuine noble blood at the same time… I packed my pens and papers and tucked them safely into a bag and strapped it under my shroud and made my way to Stonekeep in Trammel. ![]() Whoever it was who was sat astride the horse was clearly a blood relative of Klion, having similar arrogant, brash and yet charismatic leadership qualities. He damned my grandfather’s ghostly horse calling it a “daemon” horse and so to comply with Yewish Law I despatched it back to the Land of the Dead. These Yewish Folk seem a little mistrustful of the arcane ways and I suspected they thought me a wytch. The Yewish commander addressed his men and explained the course of action to be taken – to cleanse the lands around Yew felucca and to make good the outpost and secure it from attack. One guardsman was given a mule to guard – it being heavily laden with provisions. We made our way to the moongate where the commander handed out books containing the names of those who were wanted for crimes against Sosaria. ![]() Moving swiftly into felucca and being unarmed and unarmoured I did hope this would at least deter the bandits from attacking me, of course they weren’t to realise I carry no gold or goods of value. The Militia left the safety of the moongate and made their way out and addressed the assembled crowd. The commander gave a brief statement declaring all outlaws under arrest and gave them fair warning that their crimes would not continue to go unpunished. This seemed to inflame the gathering crowd who became unruly and the next thing I knew some scoundrel had ridden me down into the mud and broken my favourite pencil! ![]() At this point all hell broke loose and it was chaos. The Guardsmen fought with savage pride and their leader held great sway over his men. Sometimes the bandits got close enough to knock down the guardsmen – but the brave men of Yew gave as good as they got. ![]() The speed of combat here was breathtaking and there were many from the good guilds of Sosaria who did nobly aid the guardsmen in their cleansing of the soil. ![]() There was one gentleman who seemed intent on kicking me to the ground every time I took out my pencils to draw a sketch and so I did finally catch up with him and present a picture here of this gentleman who perhaps the Guardsmen can now lock up and detain at their leisure. ![]() By now I was hopelessly separated from my protectors and was at the mercy of the locals. The guardsmen had detained and killed quite a fair few of the brigands but there were still many in the area swarming around like angry bees. Many times I found myself under horse, on fire, poisoned, with an axe about to behead me and many times it was sheer luck that I did not die. ![]() The slaughter continued ![]() Finally I looked up and saw from the dirt the malevolent face of an elf leering down at me and the last thing I recall is his fist smashing into my face as I slipped into oblivion… ![]() Special thanks to GRD and all those who came along - please feel free to add your own view of last night's adventures here - and also please if you are on the pictures tell me who you are and where you are! It was massive fun for me playing an old scribe. Thank you. ![]() ![]() |
